Firstly, welcome to THL :)

secondly, as you say you are a beginner am I in the understanding this is to be your first rifle??

if it is then the question would be what's you budget....

The easiest way to do it is decide on your budget then visit your local gun shop and see what they have, try them out both spring and pcp, get the feel for the rifle you think suits you best then decide what calibre you want it in.

Once you've done that and decided on your rifle & scopes get yourself down to a local club/range and practice some paper punching(target shooting) try and achieve a 5-10 shot group within a 20mm area.

Then, and only then will you be competent enough to shoot at live quarry

I'm sure if I've missed anything there will be plenty more advice for you on here

good luck

As Darryl said....head for the gun club / range and shoot some targets.

The more you practice the luckier you get..... :notworthy:

You don't want to fluff the first shot at live quarry and most importantly you want to be able to confidently hit the kill zone and do a humane job.

Cheers
