brother 10
top post mally , my best mate has just had a litter from his good bitch there but as above struggled to find something he wanted eventualy using a blue dog thats been winning alot of peddy racing had 2 rabbits by accident but it was his size shape and speed that my mate liked the owners of him are more interested in showing and the dogs doing well but they would rather his pups done all sorts as they feel it will promote his lines as an alround stud . my mates bitch had 8 out of him last nite and if they make half the dogs there dam is they will be worth there weight in gold. both stud and bitch were blood tested as to prove they are whippets and not the mixture of sh*te that have papers stuck to them floating around now a days. how do you go about this blood test
fresh earth 47
im unsure as the bitch was done by the breeder both her parents were also done its down to the amount of greyhound blood etc in some lines most will already know about ill find out as my mate had his dog done its marked on the dogs card if the parents were done and her obviously if both sire and dam are done the bitch will have same results as them so if they are both pure the pups will be ... fresh earth 47
know what you mean bud i had a dog in there i intended on keeping and working and putting over my bitch later but he was 22" at 7 months old and his sire was 23 an a half so i decided he was not what i was after its not a bad idea as alot of places used to and still do just put papers to dogs when a breeder has 20-30 whippets with paper work it isnt hard to introduce a greyhound and use one of his other dogs paper work supossedly this is what the show ring is now looking for bigger more rebust and with weight on them i was told to show my bitchs but i refuse to put weight on them and make them lose there muscle tone just to enter them in a show a rossete is of no use to me . brother 10
I know exactly what you mean about muscle tone, my dog is 18.5" and 26lb he has taken everything in the past struggles with some things but at that size they all would but he is as lean and ripped as Linford Christie was in his day, he does what the whippet was bred for, has a good nose, a good strike and a good turn of pace at a heavier weight he had no stamina or recovery, on another site someone wrote of their whippet , that they know it has stamina because it ran 3 times one day on the lure but looked fat to me, I really do wish the show brigade would just get out in the field a bit and see what the whippet is really about.I think some of them are just peeved because he is getting used over bitches and their dogs arent , so its easier to slag him of and complain about scars and make false claims about how many nuts the dog has etc.

Thats the main problem with the current Kc registration process, the pedigrees etc are only as honest as the person filling them in if you know what i mean. I'm sure that some working whippet lines have other blood in them, you can see it it some of the pups. Yet they are still kc registered with papers. Vixen has been DNA tested and as will the pup/s i keep from her future litter, This will hopefully assure people that what i put on the paper work is true and if they have the facities to be able to check there pups DNA to prove the said sire and dam really are there pups parents. Whippets really shouldn't be 22" or 23 " IMO. A whippet of this size isn't a whippet. Vixen is 20" and i'd like her pups to be the same certainly no bigger. The stud dog i'm using is 191/2" ( i thought it was 20 and i had a bollocking from his owner for saying he's 20" lol). I also had the same problem when wanting to show my whippets at kc shows, i was also told to stop walking and working them as they had too much muscle tone for the show ring!!!. I believe a dog should be fit for purpose, most of the show dogs on the scene today are over wieght and unfit, plus i doubt wether some of the judges would know a good whippet if it bit them on there arse, often giving the rossettes to there friends for the use of there top stud dog etc. I now only show my dogs at the gamefairs and lurcher shows that have classes for working whippets, at least the judges at most of these events are actually involved with working dogs and know a working dog when they see one. We where at the pride of the peaks in september. I met up with a friend who bought Vixens brother and i showed him in the whippet dog class, which he infact won, Vixen also won whippet bitch and working whippet, they then both went on to win best pair. Vixen was then up against her brother and best pup for the wakes whippet shield she actually won this. There were also show whippets being shown at this event even in the working whippet class!!!! but the judge saw through this and gave it to the dogs he thought were the best there. I don't actaully know who the judge was, i've never seen him before. I have to be honest i do like visiting the shows, meeting up with folk and showing the dogs throughout the summer months. But when september comes is out in the field that apeals to me then, Doing what i bred the dogs to do....
