Oh yeah...flat open fields with little or no barbed wire and lots of hares because we have little legal hunting and almost no illegal coursing here...people just don't do it.

 

Pure saluki...I've seen some nice salukis in the UK that do catch and come back pretty good as well (compared to my ibizan all salukis I've seen come back quickly)...I like some of the chubasco line a lot, nice sleek "ratty" bitches in black and tan.

 

Hybrids...it works well for tomatoes and honeybees...working parents is a must with bees and tomatoes as well...

 

Before any young dog enters my home I have to sort out whether I can leave the area at lunch brake to let it pee and walk a bit...my old bitch makes no problem of the current work days but when she was young I lived next to my work.

Bolio wasn't there a pure saluki running in the 2001 Forley Cup, representing the Monkeyhanger coursing club. i may be wrong ??

Totally agree with regards towards the pure saluki if they were good enough to successfully course single handedly then they would have been no need to cross them. The bloke who i have coursed a lot with run a 3/4 Saluki 1/4 Greyhound and this dog has killed alot of hares but needs to be run on big land to become effective.

I suppose if your after a dog to kill hares then a Saluki cross will be probably the best option the amount of saluki should represent the type of land you intend to hunt.

Yes Tommy but the Forley changed a bit after millenium year with the British championship run by the A.L.C. in a different format, a series of head to head matches on another piece of land, while what we all know as the Forley Legends cup continued as before on the same land etc.. Kipper also ran a saluki bitch in the legends in 2004 but she had been injured and did'nt show her best. She was sent to Ireland however and this past season she got to the last four of a competition in the south killing hares in relatively small fields over here so she should be capable of throwing something useful.

T. Griffin pure saluki ran well in 2 forley cups but the saluki x has proved the strongest in all of the competions and the coursing fraternity over the years

Shaun V, was talking to the bloke who owned Cruise (Shildon) at a greyhound coursing meet just before christmas. he was saying that he knew you and telling me about how his old dog could kill hares up north on the small fields. Didn't you put a few pictures of the dog up on smoochers a while back.

the bloke i course with is from Mayo southern Ireland and when he yous'd to go back home he would occasionally take his dogs with him and these were saluki crosses. he said they killed him a few hares and these dogs were used to running on big fields.

yeah tommy i know joey well and his dog cruise, it was a special dog and he only ran once on the fens in a match,at the time we mainly ran locally or around yorkshire, that line of saluki i would say was the best that has been around
