The one Mr Hancock sold me ,albeit over 25 years ago (SH*T was it that long ago??!)was good enough.24" smooth ,black first cross took a bit of everything :whistling: . Doubt I'd bother with one of his now though. It's a long way from home for me and I've picked up local dogs just as usefull if not better .

Hancock has bred a lot of dogs and for every person that runs his stock down there are folk who have done very well with their Hancock lurchers . Some that I have first hand knowledge of have excelled at all lurcher work, gundog duties and competition work. Others have'nt seemed quite "all there" mentally and a few seemed prone to spinal injury. It is only my opinion but i really don't think the bearded collie blood adds anything positive to his dogs except a rough coat that makes them look like everyones idea of a traditional rough-coated lurcher . Certainly don't add brains .

When Iwas looking for a "collie-grund" back in the summer there seemed to be loads for sale in Wales and the Midlands so I'd have thought anyone up ther would have plenty of choice without worrying too much about Mr Hancock anyway .

But then I'z a zoft Zuvvern nanzy buy. S wadda I noz but Lurchez? :D:thumbs:

a dog is what you make it...especially from a pup, and how it is entered.

There are good and bad in everything.......... but handcock hasnt worked his dogs for years....he's basically a collie grey, puppy farmer.

Some make the grade, some dont, I have heard of some of them having bad feet.... but if its rabbits you're after then any collie grey will do you preferably from working stock.

names don't alway mean a wink mate ;-) but in this materialistic world in which we live, the majority think that its got to be branded to quality - - - - - - - - - - Not True

Personally I wouldnt buy a pup from untested parents, worker to worker will increase the chances of you getting a decent worker, play the percentages. As for fox, im sure you dont need me to tell you that using foxes for lurchers in Wales is illegal......

Heard foxes take on the best of lurchers up there :tongue2::clapper:

sure didnt you see the dvd with the barking lurchers in it :D
