Another 3 squirrels this morning!

Another day with man flu and I'm stuck in the house again! :(

But things aren't all bad, because when I finally summoned the courage to get out of bed and actually do something constructive I found myself a little present on the lawn eating all my acorns! :) I grabbed my FN8 Lighthunter and a hand full of accupells, still in my pyjamas and made my way to the window. I opened it a crack and took aim at monsieur Nutkin's head, then unleashed 15 grains of lead at him. unfortunately all that was heard was a soft thunk as the pellet hit the ground above his head!how did this happen?! The squirrel bolted down the garden and stopped at an oak tree 50 yards away before hiding round the back.

After much head scratching I remembered that I had knocked the silencer off my bed last night and I must have knocked the alignment out, but before I even had a chance to remedy the situation another squirrel darted out onto the garden, undeterred by my fluffed shot! I aimed down and to the left of him around his lower jaw and let loose a pellet straight into the back of his skull with a solid thwack! He fell down and twitched a little then spent a good 30 seconds gamboling and flipping his way down the garden before coming to a rest. I decided that I could now be arsed to put some jeans on and go down the garden to see what I could see, so on went the clothes and jacket along with an ample supply of lockets and after making a 3 click adjustment to the left I strolled down as quietly as possible. As soon as I made it to the garden I spotted a flash of grey, game on! I walked down to the squirrel I had just felled and scouted about to see what was around but couldn't see a lot.

My luck continued though as another squirrel darted up a tree 10 yards from where I was kneeled. He stuck his head out and popped it back in before I could get a shot at him, then shuffled up the tree and stuck his head out again, but still not long enough to get a shot in. By this point I reckon he's taking the piss but sure as eggs is eggs he sticks his noggin out one too many times and meets an accupell to the face. :tongue2:

A little life is left in him by the time he drops so I put a shot into his heart to humanely finish him off and he's dead straight away. Two squirrels in the bag and its not even 10 o' clock! I have a wander down to the allotment at the back of the woods and open the door louder than i had wanted too because the latch was stuck (Mental note...oil latch tomorrow!), I poked my head round the door and stood on a plastic flowerpot making a massive scrunching noise, great. I figured there wouldn't be much left in there until I noticed a very well camouflaged pair of eyes looking back at me 20 yards away. I took aim and with a well executed standing shot I nailed fluffy right in the head. He fell down and then proceeded to get straight back up again! He just sat on a tree stump looking very out of it so I immediately put another pellet right in his ear and he was down. Upon closer inspection I could see the first pellet lodged on the opposite side of his head just in front of his eye, the second pellet had gone right into the back of his skull so I was surprised that he hadn't been killed outright what with the falcon running at a healthy 11.5 ft/lbs with .22 accupells! I removed the pellet and I'll put the photos up later for you to see, but so far its been a good morning's work!

Nice read mate.

Squizzers are hard little ba--ards and dont always stop dead even when hit good.

Ive shot them in the noggin and they have run 1 or 2 metres before realising whats happening and then dying quickly after a shake or two.

Ive also seen a mate of mine a few weeks back now but 2 in the head of a squizzer after it had been hit and knocked to the floor with a neck shot and the thing was still breathing. This thing was either wearing kevlar or it was just the meanest squizzer in North Yorkshire.

Dont ask me how as his gun was pushing out 11.5 FP.
