scent 509
if your dog cant take them durin the day you have no business lamping them Quote Link to post
major1 6
i belive that lamping hares or running them during the day is all good sport theres to many poeple shooting them then courseing them with dogs i say. and them poeple who said that them who lamp hares there dogs are not good enough that is full of s##t Quote Link to post
Guest lurchers&terriers
what did you all think to lamping hares? imo i think that its a good bit of sport. but hear that many people disagree with it.atb N.H thats got nothing to do with it joe ox. this threads asking if hares are easier on the lamp than they are in the day. correct me if im wrong though You are wrong the original question is quoted above yours, it says nothing about hares being easier on the lamp or doesnt ask if they are does it? I stand corrected joe. you lovely man you Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
People who take them on the lamp with dogs who would struggle daytime thats there perogetive. Some people choose not to go out daytime, so why have daytime dogs what struggle to keep up the pace on the lamp? Some dogs which you bred struggled to keep up the pace by "false light" as you well know. Quote Link to post
leec 132
daytime hares are by far the best test of a dog, half the daylight men wont run the lamp cos there worried about there dogs not hedgeing, how about people who just love being out with there dogs and do both? lamp dogs are bred for lamping and usually bred sharper with not so much blow and there find a hare the same challenge at night as a courseing bred dog do in the daylight,i do both and have dogs for both imo it takes a different kind of dog for each day and night, and for someone who says its easy ect ect heres an invite to come out an run there day dog along side my lamper, its not a challenge just an invite out of intrest? SCOTTY1 3
hares are a harder propersition Daytime, if they were not dogs would be taking 10s 15s 20s daytime as some say they can nightime. This in itself is the evidence that a Hare is at its best during the day. GOOD POST YOU DONT HEAR MANY DAY DOGS TAKIN THOSE NUMBERS Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
Ps Joe which dogs iv bred have struggled under false light ? Dogs iv bred have been ran daytime with a bit of lamping thrown in here and there , they were never schooled to the lamp as its never really been my thing, just so happens i would from time to time go out with lads nightime, im thinking your meaning 2 dogs that were sold as pups to Murton ? If thats what your refering to maybe it was down to whoever reared or schooled them as other dogs in that litter were Fieldys Smiler more than decent day and night, Brocks Rogue Exellent on all game nightime, Tomo's Visa did the job day and night, I had Dexy more than decent daytime and at 29 in and 80lbs could still put bunnies in the bag nightime. Yes thats the two dogs they couldnt hack it and were sent back to you because of that, as for saying they werent schooled correct thats rubbish. Tomo's bitch visa by his own admission stops well before things hit cover and only runs when she feels like it!!! which from what I was told is exactly what those two I refer to would do. Some people might be happy with dogs behaving that way but Iam certainly not, a dog behaving in that way would be culled if it was mine. The original question was nothing to do with how hard hares are day or night but as usual people such as yourself come on and say hares are harder daytime they shouldnt be run at night bla bla bla Quote Link to post
