brianL84 11
i stay in ayrshire and thare is a lot of hare here. from start of a season till the end i took 40 or 50 hare with my one dog but have to say that a day time hare is well better than a lamped hare. during the day they r off and give the dog a [bANNED TEXT] good run for its money but at nite they seem to get stupid and run towards the lamp and run into fences stuff that they wouldnt usualy do during the day so i would say day time hare are far better Quote Link to post
snap 15
hares run better daytime fact but dosent all quarry. if a daytime man goes out and catches 3/3 and a lamping man goes out and catches 3/3 whats the difference, still the same outcome. Quote Link to post
chewton 7
I see more hares out on the lamp round my way than rabbits. Some go daft in the beam, some run like they do in the day. I don't run them at night now and feel almost superstitious about them but thats just my opinion at the end of the day its up to you and your conscience. Quote Link to post
Guest Defender Poacher
Blinding them with the lamp then kicking them as they run past with a dog up there arse is the best way to kill hares. Quote Link to post

Paul in North Lincs 15
I thought that lamping hares was illegal...... even before the ban. Perhaps Im wrong Quote Link to post
Guest penny
Disagree a Hare at night if it runs fast enough can run out of the lamps sight but during the day it can be seen by the dog every step of the way.Had a saluki cross she was better in the day than at night.. A HARE WILL FIND IT HARD TOO GET OUT OFF THE BEAM OVER HERE IN THE SMALL PADDOCKS OF FIELDS WE HAVE. THEY WILL BE OFF THEIR PAD AND RUN IN CIRCLES PUZZLED AND EVENTUALLY TIRE. IT TAKES A GOOD DOG TO LIFT A HARE DURING THE DAY, A VERY AVERAGE DOG COULD LIFT ONE ON THE LAMP. PENNY, IS THEIR FOREIGNERS HUNTING DOWN YOUR WAY?? There are a few lamping hares all the time, we cant get a course day time very few hares about. Quote Link to post

Guest penny
lamping hares in england fair play to u but in ireland its not done by many.im hunting 40 years and would never lamp hares to easy in our small fields. Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
I think its pathetic the way some folk cry about hares being lamped. You and me both Joe. In some areas they'll 'dust' all but the best dogs and i'd much sooner see 'em lamped than shot! Quote Link to post
LeeM 0
its no good lampin hares dogs that cant kill a hare durin the day can go out at night and kill 3 and 4 easy Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,285
Now then..these hares that are the true test in Dec/Jan would it be any different if i ran him in October? I'm talking of the "same" hare here, obviously if he was alive come Dec/Jan he'd of been kicking around in the months previous...the SAME hare surely would be no different in October as December would it not? Some would have you believe these hares grow like mushrooms in December and become instant super heroes? All the best PP. Quote Link to post
