Born Hunter 17,843
Title is pretty self explanatory. I was walking my lurcher pup off the lead in a field down by the river today which is a well used walk (not sure if it is a actual footpath but been used for years). Then the local 'own everything' land owner comes up and tells me to get my dog on a lead because 'she will play hell with the beast', which ill add were about 3 fields away. I explained she wouldn't bother them etc etc even if i was in the same field as them but still i was told to put her on a lead, so for the sake of sticking her on the lead till he fecked off i did so. But where exactly do i stand? What pisses me off is that landowners like him should be praising responsible dog ownership (stock breaking) and maybe working on his public relations abit better! No wonder last year someone he pissed off set fire to half a dozen of his bale stacks!
borderboy 80
i think you are fine as long as the dog is under control, i think thats within 15' of yourself whether on or off the lead...
SportingShooter 0
Depending on the circumstances, I may have still asked a dog owner to put the dog on a lead, but I would have been a bit more civilised. Nothing wrong with manners, they cost nothing after all. Sounds as if money and wealth has gone to his head a little bit.

macberran 2
Must at all times be under control, though people like this tube should have been in the very least courteous. A bit of weather chat before a gentle reminder of the presence of stock was enough. However maybe he has his own issues with regards dog owners. Shame though as it hardly endeers you too his cause. Born Hunter 17,843
Thanks for the replies. I understand his point of view. At the end of the day ALOT of people walk there dogs in these fields and i know some are absolute b*****ds for worrying the beast, i just felt it was unfair to bollock me when i was no where near his beast. I suppose i would be more understanding if he wasnt the way he was, hes got a deserved reputation for being an awkward arsehole. I guess im just pissed off because i felt like i was being tared with the same brush as all the irresponsible dog owners, but 'hey ho' i own a lurcher so i better get used to it! atb BH

billy_wizz 2
Perhaps yesterday she was told the same thing by someone else only to see it running through the stock 10 minutes later! Been on both sides of the argument bin caught places i shouldn't be and rollocked! But also had an uncle nearly trampled by a stampede while fixing some fencing!Caused by a dog that he was told was fine with stock then when the woman came over he had a go at her only to be told "keep your hair on he(the dog) was only playing with them" !!!!!!!!!!!! Malt 379
Some folk make me laugh. My friend and I were walking along a local footpath with our dogs off the lead, and we were greeted by a family of five holiday makers. As we passed them and just going out of earshot, we heard the dad mumbling to the mum about how we shouldn't have our dogs loose on a footpath.... .....as they all got back on their fecking mountain bikes! Cheeky hypocritical c**ts.
