Guest lurchers&terriers
as long as you get your dogs out everyday there's nothing wrong with them. A dog needs to twist and turn to work some muscles. putting a working dog on a treadmill and giving it no other exercise isn't only cruel it has no benefit to a working dog what so ever. Iam not saying grab your dog from the kennel and stick it on a treamill do some miles and throw it back in , Starting for ten i know you have to take the dogs out for there normal walk/run of the day to empty them selfs and lossen up ect ect , All i mean is after you have taking your dogs for there normal exercise of the day maybe a few miles on the treadmill can only be benefical cant it.... Like i say this is one for the lads that use threadmills,
wexford Pa 84
I use 1 when my dogs are not working or the off season or weather doesnt permit, but my dogs usually get free running in the mornings to stretch out.. I find a treadmill very useful for stamina building but they do need free runnin incuded in their exercise its more important than then the treadmill.. I always walk mine for 20 mins before puttin them on the treadmill for approx 30-40 mins equivilant to 6-8 miles.. I also never use dogs under the age of 15 months on a treadmill.. jigsaw 11,899
a treadmill is a great bit of equiptment if used in cojunction with road walking,it tones up the muscles and builds stamina when used along side other forms of workouts.we used to run the heavy dogs on them years ago, gave them untold stamina.if not abused a great bit of kit.
