Two pups from RIOHH's litter

Recommended Posts

Over the last year, my beautiful black rescue lurcher, Poacher, has introduced me to the wonderful sport of lurcher racing, hurdling and coursing and because of her success and enjoyment I decided to bring on a pup for the future.

I watched for many weeks and finally a litter was born which, in my opinion, had the credentials to compete and enjoy a bit of work too as I have my own land which is overrun with rabbits.

I booked my pup from RIOHH's litter, the pretty brindle girl, when she was only a couple of weeks old and went to collect her last Friday.

Whilst I was there I took a look at the rest of the litter after hearing that the smallest black dog had become withdrawn and wasn't eating properly. The others were taking all the food and, despite the breeder feeding him seperately, he was losing the fight to survive :(

Needless to say, I wasn't about to leave him behind and so I came home with TWO new puppies :clapper:

They have now been with us for four days, have both doubled their weight already and are having a great time!! Tiny Tim (the black dog) is doing really well now and Caitlin is being given a run for her money as can be seen in the pictures below

So here they are .......... the new Jinnyfizz Lurcher Competition Team :victory::D:cheers:

I'll post regular updates as they grow so that all those who know the litter can see their progress - thanks for looking!!

Great to see them doing so well: do watch out not to feed them too much at any one time: 5 or even 6 very small meals a day is best, and little if any carbs (cereals). So no cheap puppy food: they look great but obviously still have a lot of catching up to do. Good luck with them.

Thanks! I've been feeding them 6 times a day, high protein only (chicken, lamb mince, egg, cheese, ham and smoked sausage (!!) for flavour, some lamb liver, goat's milk with cod liver oil) and they have some small lamb knuckle bones to chew on too if they want. Thought I would introduce carbs slowly, maybe some rice, in a week or so?

The amount of weight gain is rather unusual because they had room to gain - especially little Tim as he hadn't been eating much before.
