Why do you call it nonsense? A proper dog will run up on the deer seize the hock, set the brakes on, drive through and topple it and then throat it. Nothin nonsense about that. As a matter of fact

good posts lads i would of loved to see that 21" dog on that buck ;)
the lad that owned the bull x got the head mounted and was told to keep it as a trophy , even tho the small dog done all the work ,that just goes to show how good some dog folk are ,because the person that owned the 21 inch dog ,has had more deer over the years than any one i have ever heard of ,and it was just another night to him ,

Unfit i heard the lad who owns the bull x dragged the buck a mile and the 2 a lot older blokes with him said fair play you deserve that head as your so good looking and strong... :D

Never had any probs with bullx catching deer. Had all types with them.

yes mate ,the bitch never had any problems ,the little dog did all the work on that one because they were on different deer so ive been told, but hes one hell of a dog for his size, there was 3 litter brothers (one is dead now) they all work deer very well(well use too before ban) these lads were out on deer 4/5 days a week im told, the younger good looking one was out a bit more due to other 2 feeling it with thier age :)

UNFIT if you have to teach a dog to take a throat hold you are keeping the wrong line of dogs IMO. The law has taken away the sport i love and i wouldn't risk my liberty for the sake of a run at a bambi. But pre ban i knocked the odd one over and all my hounds would/had to "Kill" there beast in double quick time with very little fuss. A messed up carcass was of no value to me as they payed the bills.

i did not mind keeping the type we had ,they averaged 150plus deer a season ,and they also done over 300 one year .some on the neck and some not ,it all depended on the situation ,ie ,if the neck was the other side of a fence then they would hang on where ever ,or if it was running flat out not many would grab the neck ,most would grab the shoulder ,because after one or two falling on a dog flat out they do get hurt and wise up ,this thing about neck dogs ,well i have only ever seen one that done it every time ,and he was some thing special ,if you ran your dogs on as many as we used to ,they would not grab the neck all the time i can asure you .and not many of the deer were killed by the dogs ,only those that were caught out of sight ,because mostly we arrived on the seen to kill it quick ,never in all the years i done it did a dog kill a stag ,it just dont happen ,neck or no neck hold ,but i have seen a few dogs killed by a stag .when i say deer i mean fallow ,not those little roe .so as you see the dogs used to earn their keep ,even if they were chompers . i just wish i could still be aloud to do it ,instead of chasing bunnies around .that is enough of me ,im doing what i said i dont do ,that is drawing attention to my self, just to prove a point , Edited by CHALKWARREN
