UNFIT 0
Throat dogs are born not made by moving them up on the throat. Some dogs might be able to be taught to do it but that aint my way. I have a bitch that does not take the throat of a coyote but only the high chest, I hate it but she is also very violent so I forgive her. My male dog CANNOT OR WILL NOT grab a coyote anywhere else but in the throat. He is a throat dog. The same goes for a dog on deer. They are born not made. come on then col saunders im all ears this is all new to me im really on edge of seat here..do your dogs use ropes /lassoes (cant spell) I do not know you. You most definately do not know me. If you want to be a smart ass towards me that is fine but you sound like a little f****n c**t. I'll extend this offer on here once again to all. If you want to see dogs that take game unaided and un-coached and do it right, fly your ass over here and I will show you anything you want to see. I am not afraid nor do I think you will be disappointed. dan they might be born ,but they only learn to take to the throat from experance ,i e, geting hurt and then realise its easier to go on the neck ,the deer kick like a mule and can damage a dog when it is on the ground with a hold rather than a neck hold , i was out with a dog at ten month old .... a few seasons ago.....and it accidently got on a deer ...when we got to it it was hold off the throat and it had never seen one before,,, never mind run one ....infact i seen one of two do the same pre ban off course .........i know nothing about deer has i only run rabbits too....just telling you what i seen .....years ago..... was it with another dog .or on its own . i dont know, ive never seen it done, ive heard off boys their running 5 or 6 lurchers at a time...lol. I wouldnt know..... im just a rabbiting man, me and my bullgreyhounds...lol. i also heard you were gay ,some folk cant tell the truth Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
If it was on its own, its done bloody very very well!! Or it was just very lucky.....Are you sure the deer wasnt lame?i have seen 2 ten month old dogs stop a 135lb fallow stag ,plus a 119lb one as well ,if its in them they will get stuck in .the one was also on the neck . You obviously work with some good dogs UNFIT. one of our bullx was 28" at 10month and weighted in at 90lb. He just didnt have the balls to take on much. Now he's 15mths and does what ever he is aloud to, so i guess these dogs where just early starters.... Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,163
i like a dog with stamina, coz its offen hard to get a close slip and tne the dog offen has a bit of running to do before it makes contact.. Quote Link to post
kanigra 110
There are many differewnt types of dog that will take a deer, if not most lurchers. i know of a lurcher that stands no more than 21" which took down a roe doe deer. Reason being it didnt have to run it, as it cornered the deer, then the rest came naturally. Adog with good stamina and that extra drive to go the full distance will work on deer. Saluki crosses.. Bull crosses collie crosses etc..... Ask John (darcy) about deer dogs if you are serious on the subject. There is no one more dedicated into taking venision than this geazer. His books are the best read you can buy and his dog SCOOBY is a legend...... no one more dedicated than darcy ,your having a laugh he never made a living at it like some ,that is why he has to write books . , scooby being a legend ,i never heard of the dog untill i came on her ,but darcy had heard of some of our dogs . that is what i mean about some of the crap on here . no disrespect darcy but some things have to be said . . I agree with unfit. Heard that scooby wasn,t all that! APARENTLY HE GOT PULLED ACROSS A FIELD BY A MUNTJAC! Don't no if its true. Deer/grey cross Saluki/grey is the best cross by far. Ask any deermen! Quote Link to post
