Why do you call it nonsense? A proper dog will run up on the deer seize the hock, set the brakes on, drive through and topple it and then throat it. Nothin nonsense about that. As a matter of fact

Throat dogs are born not made by moving them up on the throat. Some dogs might be able to be taught to do it but that aint my way. I have a bitch that does not take the throat of a coyote but only the high chest, I hate it but she is also very violent so I forgive her. My male dog CANNOT OR WILL NOT grab a coyote anywhere else but in the throat. He is a throat dog. The same goes for a dog on deer. They are born not made.

come on then col saunders im all ears this is all new to me im really on edge of seat here..do your dogs use ropes /lassoes (cant spell)

I do not know you. You most definately do not know me. If you want to be a smart ass towards me that is fine but you sound like a little f****n c**t. I'll extend this offer on here once again to all. If you want to see dogs that take game unaided and un-coached and do it right, fly your ass over here and I will show you anything you want to see. I am not afraid nor do I think you will be disappointed.

dan they might be born ,but they only learn to take to the throat from experance ,i e, geting hurt and then realise its easier to go on the neck ,the deer kick like a mule and can damage a dog when it is on the ground with a hold rather than a neck hold ,

i was out with a dog at ten month old .... a few seasons ago.....and it accidently got on a deer ...when we got to it it was hold off the throat and it had never seen one before,,, never mind run one ....infact i seen one of two do the same pre ban off course .........i know nothing about deer has i only run rabbits too....just telling you what i seen .....years ago..... :D

my dad's dog use to grab them by the neck usually. however, seen him catch them by the hocs and bring them down amazing to see grab both hocs at the same time. how many people have seen dogs catch a deer whilst its jumping a dike because hes done that he was a terrific deer and hare dog but not made for charlies but earned his keep.

p.s. pre ban of course.

If it was on its own, its done bloody very very well!! Or it was just very lucky.....Are you sure the deer wasnt lame?
i have seen 2 ten month old dogs stop a 135lb fallow stag ,plus a 119lb one as well ,if its in them they will get stuck in .the one was also on the neck .

it was on its own ....it went out of sight on the course but when i got there it was hold of the neck ....never so the take down.....but i would put a bet on that the deer made a mistake because of where it was .....but it did have the throat hold and it had never seen one before .....
