McKay 37
Still out of work and had no luck in finding anything new, So ive been pondering about different directions I could take. Idealy I would like to work with animals and something I read earlier set me thinking, Going around schools and showing the kids different animals and teaching the kids abit about them, Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this, and what are the Pro's and Con's, How to go about getting into it etc... Cheers, Mckay
MrsChamp606 553
if i were you, i would write to a few local schools and try your luck best way to get into it it was the only way i had any joy - obviously you will need to have a CRB check but most schools will pay for it. I've got no problems with the CRB check ive got a clean past haha, I was thinking more of joining a firm if they exist who do this sort of thing lol. I currently dont have that much of an impressive collection to show around yet, just a few little critters I was thinking of bringing to a company who may also have their own collection lol, although my small collection will grow haha

I think it's because I have all this time on my hands being off work I start getting crazy idea's of what I could do haha, It's better than knowing your back to pitch black 6:00 morning's on site anyway haha
stubby 175
can just imagine the law suits when "a little critter" takes a chunk out of some kid....
McKay 37
can just imagine the law suits when "a little critter" takes a chunk out of some kid.... Well there are only 2 little critters i would put on show for the kids and they are leopard geckos (apart from the dog) This is why I would rather join a company that does these things so every worker has little things they can add from their own collection so as to make a larger selection of species and animals tame and fun for the kids. (My little critter Species will be growing very shortly and I will have more species to follow) Edited October 13, 2009 by McKay

ferreterni 29
I don't think there is any company that does anything like this, over than maybe zoos, etc would think it is more local exotic keepers volunteering, which isn't a bad thing to do in itself, but doubt it will pay much, if anything. Have you thought about geting your dog into visiting hospitals etc to help sick patients? again don't know details and likely be voluntary, butr could be a way into working with animals. alternatively, see what your nearest zoo/animal park does, maybe yoy could get qualifications that way and branch out that way. Hope you get something, not the easiest of industries to do really well in, but if you can do well at it, you'll be landed atb
