SNAP SHOT 194
Well after the long travel to the stalking grounds and the rain falling like fine mist we waited, Would god grace us with a dry stalk.... not likely it seemed So as we made our way up the field we could see nothing with the misty fogging up the bino's, We spotted a few fallow making their way to the forrest as the rain got heavier and they vanished through the ditch. We walked up to the top of the field and glassed the boundry turning left we headed across the top the the field the forrest to our right, crossed into the second field kinda overgrown with a long path between the trees leading to the road and a clearing to our left, good news the rain had stopped....... we startled a few deer that quickly bolted as they were behind some gorse bushes, they ran to the bottom of the field and across to the left, As we reached the road we unloaded the rifles walking to the jeep i spotted something moving not 30 yards behind it..... it was a fallow pricket not quite sure where he was nosing about at the ditch a second leaped from the opposite side of the road, We quickly decided to leap over the 4 foot stone wall to our left into the field, and the deer were already in the field over from us with horses. The horses must of spooked the deer as they cleared teh fence back into the field we were in.......!!!!!!! they mde their way slowly up the field which is fairly steep, and madde to a few sultry trees..... no more than 150 yards away....... they made a kinda bolt towards us as they made their way over the field, not seeing us now at a fast walk my mate shouted to slow them, they never reacted, so i yelled at the top of my voice, and they stopped dead, i was on the neck and fired and a split second after my mates 6.5 echoed out through the valley, bagging them both at a range of 44 yards... chat about being in the right place at the right time........ i couldn't resist a kodak moment.......
