Daisy goes Ferreting

Recommended Posts

First time we went out ferreting was a few weeks ago, but the cover was way too high and there were too many birds about on the shoot, so we didn't have a good day, apart from the fact that the temperatures were warmer than they were in the summer  Then shortly after Mr Keeps hurt his leg when we were out ratting one night - at first the docs thought it was broken so he's had to rest it for a few weeks, but hopefully it seems to be on the mend now..

so we thought we'd have a short look out yesterday just to see how it went. We took Daisy, one of our terriers along with us, as she does enjoy herself up there. The rabbits are a bit thin on the ground this year, keeper tells us theres been a lot of myxi about up there, so heres hoping its not the same all over the estate. Anyway, dogs enjoyed themselves bushing a few on top, and we did a bit of ferreting in the woods - too dark in there yesterday for any action pics, but heres a few photos of our morning out

Great pics K :) The myxi came a month early at my place but at the moment it(hopefully) has'nt had the impact it had last year.I'm out with the rimfire tomorrow so i'll get some idea wether it's finished for the year :hmm: .

Looks like your a bit higher up on the Dale than me so the myxi could have been more prevelant...maybe's :hmm::hmm:

different Dale to you I think Andy - we didnt see any evidence of myxi, all the rabbits we got were clean, I think it hits up there a bit earlier, usually around August time, but the rabbit numbers do seem down compared to previous years.
