Guest ADAM AND HIS DOGS
i have a wee programme im just getting started into properly as my pup is old enough. i road walk them three evenings a week. constant no stopping and i incorporate a good hill or two. then i the warm weather i would take them to the river and throw a dummy for the pup to retrieve. two evenings a week i would take them round the local forest taking in a good meadow of the football pitch so they can have a good gallop i try to include a few fences and gates with some small jumps. i throw a ball for my pup and get him to retrieve. the raqod walking hardens their feet and builds muscles the walks off the lead allows them to build stamina and worl on their turning and such. all good preparation for when i start ferretting once a week and lamping two of three times weather permitting. marko 30
i do virtually the same were i live we have a massive park with woodland the dogs are out excercising 5- times a wk but they do a lot of running together aswell ,as working all the cover and in general mooching they normally get a few runs on squirrells this gets the dogs very sharp there is also a stream for them to mess in and get a drink all in all its a good little way to get all the dogs fit. Tarmac 1
Me and my lurcher cover a 7mile bike ride, 3 times a week, then general mooching/walking the other 3 days... Saturday is a rest day for both me and the dog.... Works a treat for muscle build up and stamina.... Quote Link to post
