well the land i have permission for sounds pretty much like yours.

it is common land to which i have gotten permission for.

it also has sand dunes next to the sea which are protected, but they are abundant with rabbits tho i have not tried it yet due to a fear of losing the ferrets in the grass.

as for the cave ins i have been lucky so far. the ground has cattle on it constant so there is a lot of well grazed land to hunt on.

so prob permission needed wherever you go.

good luck hunting

Who did you apply for permission off ? thanks alot mate

it was owned by the council (the dunes still are) but when the rest of the land was up for sale a group of locals got a syndicate going and purchased the land.

i just asked the locals walking their dogs who was in charge and they pointed me in the right direction.

when i asked for permission i was told i could do what i wanted as long as no vehicles went on the land and no digging (with a bit of luck i wont have to).

You can ferret on a public footpath only if you have permission of the person who owns or controls the land it is on .

The public only have a right to pass and repass (ie walk on ) a footpath they must not stop except for a reasonable rest or be accompanied by or in possession of anything that is not directly connected to the legal use of the path .

All land belongs to someone . Pavements ," Public "fields and common-land are usually under the control of Councils. Without permission from these you would be un -authorised and could get done not just for poaching but possession of a knife in a public place if you had even the tinyest gutting knife.

This land is basicly sand dunes right next to the sea ,so it will probly be the council that owns it then?

crack on then :whistling:

Sand dunes .Could even be a Nature Reserve or some sort of protected habitat . Basically to hunt on any land you have to be "An Authorised Person" . It's no good saying something like "No one seems to know who owns it or care what happens there . Without permission you are in the wrong legally .

Try to find out who controls them . Even if they won't let you ferret they might know someone who will . Getting known as a polite honest chap will win you more points in the long-run .

:icon_redface: Now having given a lecture from ahigh I have to admit that when I started out with my one fat old pet hob and my six measly nets I used to creep about a bit of no-mans -land woodland . I sorta knew it was wrong though . :icon_redface:

Ha ha i know what you mean, i done that for years when i never had permission, but i have quite alot of land now and and want to do things right. There are absolutely thousands of rabbits on this land and rabbits out in the open alday and i know alot of people that have shot there in the past, but i want to make sure its legal.

feret are poaching animails so why not use them what there for
