Guest hyperion
are these the only way you can kill quarry or is there others??? rat's & mouse - terrier, gun's, traps birds - gun, trap rabbit - ferreting, snare, gun, dogs, trap hare - gun fox - gun, trap badger - unsure about this one deer - gun can anyone point out if any of these are wrong? your looking at it the wrong way!, rather than saying birds=gun, rabbit=ferret, snare ect you have to look at it in the way that each method of control is suitable for different quarry! and i type this list out in the loosest sense possible air gun: wood pigeon, jay, magpie, crow, collard dove, squirrel, rat, rabbit, rook, jackdaw, there are other quarry but these are the most common! shot gun: as above plus, fox, game birds, wild fowl rimfire rifle: as airguns but mostly used for rabbits, can be used on fox if needs be! centerfire rifle: depending on caliber, all of the above, though more comonly used on fox and deer! live catch traps: fox, rabbit, squirrel, rat, crow, magpie ect instant kill traps: rat, rabbit ect snares: rabbit, fox have a look at the BASC web site for more info! at the end of the day its down to you to know which method is legal and suitable for each animal you wish to take! cheers hyperion Edited October 13, 2009 by hyperion
Wanna be farmer 0
Or gone toe to toe with an angry stag??? If you class cutting a joint of Venison up then yes, but apart from that no. Haha. I think there's more chance of Hens growing Teeth then catching a Deer by its Antlers haha.
comanche 2,991
Ok so we know badger bothering is illegal, but what about tackling deer with bare hands does anyone know for sure or is it one of those grey areas like the capture and re-release of antis. Which from what I'm told, the release of antis into the wild is frowned upon. Although the release of antis is generally allowed a prosecution might be made under the 1911 Protection of Animals Act sec 57 ii; "if upon being tipped from the sack (or other restraining container ,crate etc ) the anti (or antis) fail to run fast enough thus causing the wolves to overtake and consume the said anti(or antis ) and if as a result of such the wolves suffer any internal injury from jewellery such as nipple studs or suffer malnutrition due to the poor vitamin content of said anti(or antis) an offence may be commited. Hope that helps . As to the legality of taking a deer with your bare -hands ;according to the BDS it depends what calibre of man you are .
Richie10 345
Had a muntjac in my long net, ran to catch it but it got out at the last minute. Would that have been legal?
mushroom 12,918
Thanks for clearing up the release of antis for me but you forgot added the charges of...... Releasing vermin into the countryside Poluting the environment and Holding vermin with the intent to hunt it at a later date with the biggest, meanest slavering dog on the market. Personal I don't release antis without tagging them... WWF style
WILF 46,786
in any circumstances are you able to shot them or can you trap and relocate them??? No, no and again no.....they are protected as are the setts they live in, do not mess about with the animals or their home in any way shape or form or you could be looking at a prison sentance + very hefty fine.
