fireman 10,859
A little while ago i sold a plummer pup to a chap on here and he offered a day at the rats at a farm he works at,well yesterday it came together and after a drive up from norfolk we met up and had a day out.We started off the day by parking up the motors and whilst the dogs were stretching there legs and us getting to know each other the dog the dogs marked a hole,as it was under a skip the smoker came out and a rat was flushed. The dogs missed that one but we followed it and dug the warren it had taken refuge in,the dogs were marking all over and then we reached a good few in a block end. There were a good few in here and we were releasing a few out of the tunnel at a time so the dogs would acount for as many as possible, move the spade, let a few out and back with the spade sort of thing. The sport was good and fast and a few slipped passed but just took refuge in a close by warren,we were just moving along having good digs in easy ground to a few each time then every so often we were hitting 20 odd rats in block ends and the dogs had rats hanging off of there ears, feet, noses and lips at times it was so hectic.A few rats sort shelter under a couple of troughs and we shifted these by spooning out the water with the spades into the holes, the rats tried to sit tight but the yearning to breath was greater than the urge to hide and as soon as they put there heads out it was game over.We had a great time and a great thanks to Smoking Toes for the day and it was good to see the pup getting bolder and joining in more and more as the day went on,the pup has well landed on his feet with the new owner he has and will sure as hell see some rats as he gets older and i couldn't have asked for a better home for him.Just a couple of pics at the end of day as we were just to busy having fun to get the camera out during the hunt,150 give or take just a few either way(maybe someone really bored can count them for us lol) and done with just 4 dogs and the pup. Thanks again mate and will be in touch for doing the bank asap, more to come so watch this space folks lol.
