Recommended Posts

Hi my mum has finally let me have a dog but in afew months because i need to buy a shed and get it all ready.

I was thinking of getting greyhound x whippet x saluki x collie x bull but wanna know what you all think

You'v been reading to much shyt on here lad! I think what you mean by this is you want a greyhound, a whippet, a saluki, a collie, and a bull but the thing is your mam wont let you have 5 dogs so you want them all rolled into one dog and you can tell your mates you have 5 dogs :11: .

Go it your self dont ask advice off here theres a million & one lurcher experts on here and about 5 who know what there actually talking about the rest talk utter shyt TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!! One lad one dog one partnership!!

Good luck mate!

This sort of question is everything these forums are meant to be about. Where else could someone new to the game tap into the knowledge of a few thousand lurcher owners?

It's not all about wind ups, conflict & childish behaviour. If the site is as bad as you say it is, why do you keep coming on here?

Don't be so fecking cynical, there's a good number of decent members on here amongst the chaff..

yea a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie would be a good mix, not to bad to train either for first dog. bit of bull then you got perfect cross :clapper:

see the parents work and choose something 24 to 25 inches at shoulder but bred of good working stock but something you can control and can train no need to get bull in a dog to catch edible game and the odd fox flushed pre ban , find out gouys who breed good stock there outr there mate

would have to agree with you there whin.unless your doing plenty fox, forget the bull blood.3/4 grey collie is a good choice.i had one as my first lurcher when i was 13.intelligent,piss easy to handle and fast enough for anything.

i have also just got my first lurcher. i got her at 7 month and she is nw about 15 month-beddy/whippet x collie/grey only 21 n half ''tts must av been one of smallest in litter...she is coming on really well on the lamp. very clever, runs in and and the beam, cuts quarry off, but allways gives 100%. she has chased daytime deer and had one on the lamp with a bull/whippet,grey., and had about 8 hares single handed on the lamp and one during the day (pre ban). chased a few fox but never had one yet, had a bit of a scuffle wit a badger the other nite but called her straight off obviously b 4 she got hurt. seemed very keen tho. shes very easy to train, retrieved to hand from first catch and never stopped. very friendly with people and dusnt bother the neighbours cats, i keep her in the house and she was house trained in two days. she the perfect dog for me, pics are at 11 month

Ok lad their were some pups on hear recently grey/collie/grey/beddy that was wat my first lurcher was i dont think you would go for wrong with that cross.Saluki crosses can be a bit tempremental and i would not advise them for a first time lurcher owner their ok if theirs something else in the cross.Have you got any books on lurchers.atb dell

first lurcher mate probably best to go with a collie x grey but it all depends on what you prefer to hunt if its an all rounder go with a collie grey there not the hardest dog but easy to teach (as long as you know what you are talking about ) fast and they have brains anyways its all about what dog is right for you you could look at all are comments all day but at the end of it its still your choice mate .

good luck choosing your pup and hope whatever you choose does you proud mate all the best ;)

lmao how can anyone say forget about whippets!! :realmad: the lad wants advice on getting a dog and he his getting advice to stay away from the breed??? yes whin you are obviously knowledgeable..... pencoed you dont need big dogs to take big stuff... if a little terrier can do it then so can a whippet and trust me they can! whatever you want to go for get a dog to suit the land you are intending to hunt if its big open fields then the collie x grey or saluki x grey ect are what you would be looking at if there small fields then the whippet and whippet crosses are what your looking at matey...

yis ;)
