He'll probably sell all these pups because the world is full of fools who are easily parted with their money.

These pups will probably look the part when adult but think about it ? Would they be good for any thing else other than looks?

Why do we cross a certain breed over a greyhound in the first place? The greyhound gives us speed and thats all. The other breed must give us the desire to hunt and that "never say die" gameness that we need in a working lurcher. Will a poodle give us that? Don't fool yourself and say "yes".

Was it Typp Ratcher a while back that said his pointers could course as well as a lurcher or greyhound? Says it all really.

It's a pity crosses like this are tried as I'm lead to believe the rescue societies are full of lurchers. And then you've got lads who breed out of good tried and tested dogs and bitches and can't sell the pups.

Saw this add in the CMW 7/8Grey x Poodle for sale Typp Ratcher. What are folks views on this x is a gimmick or a genuine attempt to introduce what was an old hunting type back into the gene pool. Constructive comments no sniping just for the hell of it. What will this x bring to the Lurcher world?
i read an article that said some bedlington terrier breeders used poodle blood to get a better coat for showing so there could be a few poodle blooded lurchers already :whistling: :whistling:

I've commented on this cross before but here it is again, the standard poodle in its native France is still used as a gundog but only in limited ammounts, like for instance the cumbler spaniel, find (import) the 'right' type and maybe you'll get a sevicable lurcher that'll catch you the odd bunny or two but i'd be very surprised if these became real 'when the chips are down', do or die lurchers!

Now i ain't read the article but i'll bet Mr Ratcher has gone and used a KC redge Poodle with nothing to commend it as a 'working dog', all I see is £££££ and with him writing in the CMW, i'm sure he'll make a pretty penny as he has the voice to big 'em up and sell 'em, for over inflated prices 'because of all the effort in finding the dog , having the litter etc'.

What will happen is, these mutts will inevitably find their way into the decent Lurcher gene pool and become another 'blot'!!

I see this cross with nothing to add that your average working gun dog cross could not do, save hight. If anyone out there gets one, I for one would like to hear of its progress and would love to stand corrected in 18 months time!

And as for Typp Ratcher, he is a tosser, who writes lame ass articles for a sub-standard 'working' dog mag.....!

Don't belive the hype!!

I went out one night about 14 years ago ,i was running my 3/4 greyhound x 1/4 alsation and my mate was running his first x greyhound x standard poodle ,we both had 3 runs each, the result was the alsation 29 itts caught three things. Now poodle could not catch any thing all night, the poodle wasn,t sharp enough or just poo.
