The Shadow 10
Saw this add in the CMW 7/8Grey x Poodle for sale Typp Ratcher. What are folks views on this x is a gimmick or a genuine attempt to introduce what was an old hunting type back into the gene pool. Constructive comments no sniping just for the hell of it. What will this x bring to the Lurcher world? Quote Link to post

The Shadow 10
Poodles were supposed to be very game and their coats gave good protection.....wonder if it will catch on Quote Link to post

Hollie 21
I think it is another greedy breeder who has seen ££ signs otherwise why would the pups be so damn expensive, i saw some advertised as Lurcherdoodles FFS :realmad: granted it may be a different advert/breeder but i am sure they are mainly being bred as the newest 'designer' dog! So you dont think a poodle could add anything to the mix? I think this proves why these adverts attract buyers. One of the most important fundamental characteristics a good WORKING dog needs to have to provide good WORKING dog offspring is..... the ability to prove it is a good WORKING dog. Now, how many good WORKING dog poodles do you know? Quote Link to post

France & Germany apparently use poodles still.....I'm not referring to the show types with the fancy haircuts that you see at crufts....Standard poodles were originally bred for work. And your right I dont know of any that work...not my cup of tea either but it makes you wonder.....theres a lot of other x used in the lurcher pool that dont work Quote Link to post

So you dont think a poodle could add anything to the mix? I'm sure the RIGHT poodle could add alot to the mix however *personally* i doubt these dogs are being breed with work in mind, they are just an easy way to make money because anything with poodle in it is seen as cute. If a genuine dogman bred a litter to test the water and see if the poodle could add anything then fair enough but don't expect that is the case! Quote Link to post
youngy 1
worker two worker wudnt have out else Quote Link to post

Standard poodles without the coat look athletic and a bit similar to the physique of pointer types? Quote Link to post
