Delicate situation- how to handle ?

Recommended Posts

Our shoot syndicate has the pens on farmer A's property although most of the shooting is done on adjoining land.

Last season one wood shot badly- the reason was that Farmer A's dogs - 3 of them hunt the wood themselves scattering the birds virtually every day.

This year they have started in a second wood and I picked them up and dropped them off home and told Farmer A .

The problem is that they are not kenneled and soon as his back is turned off they will be again hunting.

A real catch 22 situation - how do you deal with it ?

Had a similar problem a couple of years ago,if it's poss try and catch the dog or dog's and get somebody else to hand them into the nearest dog warden saying they found the dog's wandering, when the farmer has to pay to get them back once or twice he will soon start keeping them under control, most farmers dont like parting with thier cash as a rule!!!!!!!!

Just talk with the man...

Talking about shooting his dogs will make your problem a million times worst...

I understand keepers have to protect there jobs and houses ect.. But Shooting dogs and getting heavy handed with people just would end in tears for a both partys..

have a word like others have said if it was me and he takes no notice or ignores you id catch the dogs and give them a lashing if it happend again well i wouldnt be responsible for my actions . the dog warden idea sounds good also i know how pissed iv been when iv had to shell 40quid out twice to get my terrier back from the kenells when it disappears out the garden with its nose down lol and im not tight as most of these farmers either lol.

i know a keeper that had pheasents getting killed he asked the old couple at the nearest house if theyd seen any cats or anything about they told him theyd seen two terriers running lose on the shoot but be carefull he said they were in my garden and they went for me. the next day he went down to check his traps with the gun and he went in one of the big release pens and he saw the two dogs when they sett of running at him he let both barrells go lets just say the killing stopped. but he didnt know whos dogs they were and he werent taking any chances of them biting him.

At the end of the day mate its your hard work thats going to waste and in the end it will end up costing you money ie. if they kill the birds, if they drive them away its down to you mate good luck whatever you decide.
