artic 595
FFS, people go out of their way to arrange a competion and they still get slated! I tell you what, next year arrange it, and keep it off here! No respect! I have over 15,000 hectares to run my dogs, and trust me there have been nights where i have seen 3/4 rabbits all night. Why do people on here think they know it all? JOKERS! Quote Link to post
chartpolski 23,133
3 rabbits , you boys in this comp have got to get on some decant land, yes i know the meeting up with new chaps is all part of it, but fecking ell, not a single heat in double figures when me and LDR talked about the rules, evry one had to own a car so there was none of the bollox like last year with WH and crew. by having a car and being on permision, you can lamp from 7.30 pm onwards. so work aint an isseu, the point is you should be able to run a heat with a day or two's notice. not need to book it weeks in advance. the moon is now 3/4 down , so you can now lamp right up till almost the end of the month, just watch the weather on the net , long and short range predictions, then pencil a number of nights in. come on fellas none of these heats have tested a dog Tomo, the moon was almost FULL, no cloud, no wind, and there were lamps on the permission in front of us, and a Trasnsit van driving the fields and lamping, so hardly good condititions !! I had drove 140 mile and stayed over, so it wasn't a case of not trying !! You didn't enter this years comp because of family commitments, Bolt and myself had to run on this date because of OUR family commitments; he had just got back from NZ , and my family is off to Oz for 4 month next week, so this was the only date we could arrange. We enjoyed ourselves, so why should it worry anyone else ????? my comments were ment as costructive , not to upset or be seen as nagative. as you say i had other commitments , so didn't feel i could commit to the lamp comp. wich is exactly the POINT. if commitments are getting in peoples way, why enter. like i said its nice to meet like minded chaps , in fact i know all of you lot in this heat and like you all and to answer your question cp, it doest worry me. it would just be nice to see a good heat with a few in the bag Our commitments DIDN'T get in the way; we ran our heat, had a good time, and we were both happy ! If you are worried, why not let a heat or two be run on your land ? We wern't that far away. I didn't drive all that way and walk the land for over three hours to have just 4 slips, I would have prefered 40 !! LOL !! but thats what fate decided for us so that was that, we just made the best of it ! Cheers. Quote Link to post

Hi mate, me and LDR have already discussed next years comp, and theres a good chance it will be invite only and all comments, results, etc, will be kept to PM and not posted on open forum ! It would be a shame if it came to that, but there is just to many who want to drag the comp down. Cheers. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
be a shame if that happens CP, I was thinking of entering next year if the pup does OK this year. I've followed both comps with interest so far.. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
F**K waiting for perfect nights, dogs dont give a s**t about perfect nights, get out there! well done lads Quote Link to post
coursing_lad 45
invite only , thats a shame , as its supposed to be THL LAMPING COMP - i know a good few try tear it down , but it will have become a public comp for everyone to have a chance , to invite only , this isnt the forley cup , no big money involved either . its supposed to be a bit of fun for the lads who enter and meet differnt lads , run differnt ground, such a shame people have to ruin it . Paid 935
I agree, it needs to remain open, and who really cares about negative comments? Its just the interwebs. Quote Link to post

mally 832
First things first, i'm not into multiple quoting so here goe's Leeview..... You are obviously accusing me as being a liar like you do on a regular basis with other members on here. I wrote the report on friday evening just before going out lamping. I'd already trudged 8 miles the night before, didn't get in til 4 am then get accused of lying. Get a grip man. Yes there was a transit van and other lampers around the area. We made the best of a bad night. I would have cancelled the heat after an hour and gone and run it on my land had it been possible but it wasn't possible. The farmer wouldn't have liked me ringing him at midnight to tell him we were going lamping would he???. Plus i doubt we'd have seen anymore rabbits on there anyway due to the conditions. Thats lamping anyone with experience will tell you. On top of that your not even in the competition so why give us this shit???. I didn't come on line yesterday as i've got swine flu, i was made aware of the negative posts this morning and have posted accordingly. Anyone who goes lamping on a regular basis will tell you one night is never the same. We were out on Friday night the night after the heat. We killed more rabbits in the first 2 fields than we'd seen the whole of thursday night, this was due to slightly better conditions, drizzle and cloud cover etc. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THIS WAS THE LAST TIME I'LL JUDGE A HEAT IN THE LAMPING COMPETITION. All the negative posts are coming from members who arn't in the competition. The members who are in the competition are happy with the way things are going so far. Yes we would like to see more rabbits to test the dogs to the full but thats lamping. I've been going out 2-3 nights a week recently to get my dog fit for the competition and we are strugling to get double figures on the nights i've been out. If you wait for the perfect night you'd never get out. We arn't all blessed with the land like tomo and we have just have to get out and do it simple as that.... Quote Link to post
