Rothers 0
will these work in the wet? with peanut butter?mine arrived just this morning and dying to get it out asap any advice? cheers gaz You will need to cover the trap if its wet. Although you see rats in water ,they do dry off. When a rat is caged in the rain it has no protection from the rain and cannot dry itself. I had a monarch trap with 7 rats in .It rained all night and all seven were dead in cage by the morning. Peanut butter is good,I have had plenty of success with bread too.. Put some outside the trap too, give the rats a bit of confidence in the trap.. Quote Link to post
gazguildford 0
ok so i got my monarch trap from "the trap man" i set it with peanut butter on a plastic lid last night i woke up this morning the trap was upside down in the middle of the garden and the trap door was stuck open lol the plastic lid certainly looks chewed to buggery (panicing rat?) i think a rat may have been inside and old charlie well one of about 7 we have pass through our garden and decided on a meal so beat the cage up until he got what he wanted there is no damage to the cage at all and the bar spacing on the cage is about 10 ml standard hamster cage size i suppose so couldnt have been a fox to chew the lid?. so i have wedged the trap against the fence and a couple of garden folks hold it in place should i try and secure it better and what are your thoughts on what could have gone on last night? cheers gaz Quote Link to post
stubby 175
you need something like a T bar by the sound of it, have you got a probe for ferreting or mole's, if so push that through cage wires and into the ground Quote Link to post
para1 11
Why not put the trap where the rats can get at it but the fox can't ? P1 Quote Link to post
atuddy 179
the prob i have is the rats get back out Quote Link to post
gazguildford 0
Why not put the trap where the rats can get at it but the fox can't ? P1 its in my garden by my shedand my garden is quite open plan so fox's will get to it wherever i put it anyway if theres a gap big enough for this cage then the gap is big enough for a fox i have secured it with wire to a chain link fence and a couple of garden forkes dug in around it didnt move last night but still no rat so we will see what tonight brings maybe its a sign that i dont have rats! but then i back on to woodland so there is bound to be a few about Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
the plastic lid certainly looks chewed to buggery (panicing rat?) Why in God's name would anyone put a PLASTIC lid on a rat trap? Beggars belief that these so called 'trap makers' can get away with selling such crap OTC Quote Link to post
