pnut butter is good bait for rats and squirrels, but have you set them in the hole/tunnel or used a pipe etc. the reason i ask is fenn type traps cant be set in the open legally.

they are set in an upside town plant window box with the ends cut off? is that ok? if not i'll go and shift them or make something else up.

Hi there,

your mk4 fenns need to be set in a tunnel made by hand, with what ever you can get your hands on building material wise,I.E plywood, stone, brick,or logs,if you can try and locate the rat run, then look at making your tunnel on the rat run, ideally next to a shed or panel fence, the tunnel needs to be just big enough to allow the trap to spring up,and just wide enough so when the trap is set you can place it inside the tunnel and take the safety catch off with out catching the sides of the tunnel, also the trap itself needs to sit level inside the tunnel,by just taken a few scoops of soil from the run and sitting the trap nice and level,so that the rat runs across the trap, and not over the trap if you get what i mean, also the trap needs to be anchored as well, with the use of a peg, then the entrance of the tunnel needs to be just big enough for a rat to get through, just use dowel or something to narrow the entrance down and by doing so the rat is more likely to run nice and straight on to the trap, you don't need to use BAIT,just set and you should have a stinking brown rat in it next day, good luck.Oh i also hope that i have not been teaching you to suck eggs,if i have im sorry, but you did say in your thread any help or pointers.

Get a pic of the area it was living in. That will let you know how many may be there.

Does she feed the birds? If so then thats the problem most likely, there may be a drainage issue under the patio if there are a lot of rats there though. ;)
