Yokel Matt 918
Shit, that’s a ball ache … I’d better keep my fingers crossed as I’ve got the older model with the Aple Mounts that attach to the action. Which b*****d said ‘quality is cheaper in the long run’ then Quote Link to post
vimto 0
I remember fitting the Apel mount bases on my first Sauer. De greasing all the contact points and then giving a light smear with Loctite before screwing the slot headed screws through the bases and into the action. Next day i attempted to put the bolt into the gun only to find that the screws impeded the bolt travel through the action so it all had to come off again. The screws had to be cut down and then filed leaving less than 3mm sitting in the action to hold the bases, rings and scope in place. I spoke to a few Gunsmiths about this and they were happy with the design and even happier when explaining "if they fall off" we`ll be able to re tap the action with larger screws but this can only be done once then you`ll need a new action You`ll be alright Local your what we`d call an occasional user or on a dry Sunday only user Only kidding Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
To be straight Local those 140g should hit them like a train. But like you i dropped on some cheap 129g SST`s so there being used for everything at the moment.I`v had a couple of Sauer 202 Outbacks one i changed because i initially chose the wrong calibre so months later i brought another spanking new 202 in 6.5 only to realise that there not as robust as people believe. The potential problem i`m led to believe has now been rectified in the new Outback models which now have the integral mounting system unlike the older models which had the mount bases screwed on top of the action. Steel screw`s less than 5mm into an Aluminium action is just asking for trouble and that's why i parted with my last Sauer. A used Gun and not a posturing accessorie like some own.. See your back on them plastic sticks ,the ones you love to hate As to damage on a fox ,you wont beat 55 gr from a 22.250 -Not from charts either Edited October 10, 2009 by foxdropper Quote Link to post
vimto 0
Those plastic sticks Drooper were customised as soon as they were out of the box and lasted about half a season. Would of been less without the alterations.. As to damage to a fox you wont beat a train and thats facts not charts either Quote Link to post

danebrewer10 6
Dane you`d do better looking for tips off someone who really use`s the 6.5x55 like Brucey Boy suggests what do you mean? I suggested a couple of other forum member one of whom I think uses the 6.5x55, i'm not sure if I should be mildly offended or not? but like I said in my other post, I don't have anything bigger than the .17 HMR so I can only recount what I believe to be sound advice from a reputable source.... martin 332
Deker,it was only today you were telling someone that they wasted their money buying a .204 ,and, that was based on the fact that you have never even owned one,so,I have to agree with one 'Vim' there is some neck winding to do.................Martin. Mr_Logic 5
And here we go again.... For the record, since I was mentioned... I don't have a 6.5x55, never have had, nor have I said otherwise. The closest I've come is a good look at the ballistics figures. Regarding .204, Deker was around for quite a lot of my 204 trials, so he did see first hand about that. And I don't think anyone said the guy had wasted money buying one. I've put my experiences of it there, you can have a read directly. I have no wish to get into any more arguments with Vim - been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Quote Link to post
Guest vimto.
I think its about time i spoke to IanB directly about the action of a certain Moderator.. Your fecking mixed up pal to remove my registered name because i said that Logic had a white t shirt with Loser written on it Yet you see fit for folk to call me a Prick?? You also removed Murphs post which was uncalled for.. It`s about time you used your common sense pal.. Quote Link to post
Murph 30
There was no reason to remove either of those posts whoever did it, there was nothing offensive, it was one of the funnier posts you read on here, definately not bad enough to delete someone's membership. Quote Link to post

Martin, will you chill out!!! ... you really need to read my post carefully, I did not say anyone wasted their money, I posted a factual and accurate assesment of the calibre based on my research, knowledge and use of one! Every word is true! Now, for f***s sake it's time everyone stopped this ball banging, got sensible and constructive, and stoped making stupid personal remarks! Oh sorry Mr L, I thought you did, I just remember reading a post where you wrote a bit about it and I know you do a bit of reloading so I (incorrectly) put 2 and 2 together and came out with 5.... and will everybody stop baiting each other!
