fireman 11,154 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Share Posted October 8, 2009 locators are sold on here( buy sell swap).a way around the collar is to tape it to the tail. good luck Not the best idea mate,a few different locators to choose from but all worth there weight in gold.if your starting out on your own with no help from an old hand then try to pick small earths to start you and the dog off with,hope it goes well for you and get yourself kitted up with the right tools as well.T bar,different spades for different jobs and even a garden fork all will be needed at some point,go back through a few dig pics(steviemanns latest ones shows some) and your'll see some of the types of tools needed.Good luck to both you and the dog and let us know how you get on mate. waidmann 105 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Share Posted October 8, 2009 i take it the taping of locators is not done over here then if you think about it its not a bad idea,you break through at the right end of the dog,dog cant get caught up on roots etc and the locator cant get lost through striping it off. i'm sure i saw a video on here of a dog working a badger with a taped tail too so it cant be that goony can it?
