cathunter 8
Do foxes bolt often when a dog is down the den? and did people run them down with lurchers preban after they bolted or shot with the shot gun? Do den doggers(the hunters) prefure if the dog bolts the fox or you dig down to the fox and deal with it? sorry i my sound like an idiot, but i'm still learnin about what to do before i put my bitch down a den for the first time. regards cathunter Quote Link to post

Guest ROUGH COATED
Let your TERRIER enter and see what happen's Simple as that' just make sure it has a locator on and you humainly dispatch the fox. Edited October 7, 2009 by ROUGH COATED Quote Link to post

Attack Fell Terrier 864
I prefer a dog that will put the pressure on it and keep it in one spot until its dug too. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Depends what you want out of a dog and what type of hunting you do.. Some boys like the sport of digging to the dog & quarry, but if it's pest control in awkward areas like farm rubbish tips where a dig is nigh on impossible, then obviously a baying type terrier is more desirable. I should have added that I was speaking from the few seasons experience I had with hunt terriers! Quote Link to post

Cleanspade 3,324
your dogs workstyle will to some degree decide for you if you have to dig or get a bolt. and the way you go about the job yourself. can help decide the outcome also Quote Link to post
philipmurray 0
dig but i do prefer a bolt let quarry run and another chance... Quote Link to post
