jasper65 6
Ok guys I'm in the running now for a decent Pre Charge and narrowed it down to the two above! I fancied the Ranger mainly down to the amount of shots per charge and its Ambi Stock but now also like the MK4 .... Both Guns are obviously exceptional but which would you have? I've banged up a Wanted Add on another forum for a .177 Ranger in the Norfolk/Suffolk/Lincolnshire area but am now open to a MK4 as long as its a lefty! My heart says Ranger but my heads saying the MK4 has sex stamped all over it ..... cheers Jasper Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Do you intend to f*** it or shoot it? And either way they are both heavy, think on if you intend carting it around the fields for a few hours! I know people with both and each complains about the weight, my Falcon and my .22lr is only a little over HALF the weight of these!... Neither work for me, but they do for some Edited October 7, 2009 by Deker Quote Link to post
bedrock 16
The air ranger was designed to be a high powered airrifle in Poland running at about ft pound. The MK4 is heavy but in my opinion a much better balanced rifle as oppose to the ranger witch is like carrying a fire extinguisher around the fields. Personally I would get the MK4. You can get about 180 shots out of it. and it feels nicer to shoot Quote Link to post

SEAN3513 7
hello jasp theres always a few for sale on bbs (spit) i agree the mk4 is a nice looking piece of kit......i have shot one and think they are up there as one of the best, and as bedrock has said, much nicer, smoother than a ranger. the weight isnt a massive problem if you fit a decent sling. good luck sean Quote Link to post

Jasp I know an Air Ranger that will be on the market as soon as the owner gets his .22lr...problem is he is one of the guys who thinks it's too heavy, it also runs at 80ft lb, never fires 2 shots the same and you are lucky to get 8 shots per charge... Probably fired about 150 shots in it's life and like brand new, only sensible use is as a door stop, interesting waste of around £1000. Shame but true!!! Quote Link to post

I have been browsing that forum for days now looking for one, one came up the other week based in Rotheram for £900 with scope/silencer and bottle but to be honest its a bit far for me, with a bit of luck there'll be one come up soon.... One thing that is confuseing me with the Rangers is there a later and older model with a revamped stock and by all accounts fitted with a Harper Valve to Improve performance , I'm not sure of this is fitted to all the Air Rangers or just the later models or if its a big improvement? I'll browse the Daystate forum and see what comes up ... ATB Jasp Quote Link to post

Yep big money and way over priced but they still give me a stiffy If I can pick one up for the right price secondhand it should do everything I want running at 12ft/lbs Deker! this new place I'm at is Infested with f*****g squirrels/Rats and a good few pigeons which will all except the Rats end up in the freezer for Hawk food.... It'll probaly save me a fortune in food costs in the firs 12 months .... Jasp Quote Link to post
