tullfan 0
i think the above posts have answered your question, but good on you for asking and not taking what you were told as read,as i have said to lots of people in the past .its a DOMESTICATED animal handle/treat it as such and you shouldn't have any problems Quote Link to post
max abell 196
We have 12 ferts 1 hob and 11 jills and none of then ever bite When they are kitts you get the odd playfull nip but thats about it If ferts are handled regulary and looked after there is no reason why they should bite I dont beleive there is such thing as a spitefull fert only a bad owner in the 1st place Quote Link to post
theferreter 311
i find hobs more docile than the jills but all will become very friendly wif plenty of handling Quote Link to post

It's called 'patience', something that's in rather short supply with the 'If it bites me it gets shot' Rambo brigade. Quote Link to post
dytkos 17,815
A lot of old boys will tell you the old myths about ferrets. Back in the day they were often fed nothing but bread & milk, kept in small hutches and never handled unless they were being taken out ferreting. The result was that you had a bad tempered ferret that craved meat and something to do. If you feed your ferret correctly and give it plenty of handling and exercise, you can get it as tame as any cat or other pet animal. It's all about trust & confidence. If you are nervous of your ferret, it'll most likely pick up on that and be more likely to bite you. Well said M,, I could put my ferts down my trousers and let them take food from my mouth without any probs if I had a mind (or half of one)! LOL Cheers, D. Quote Link to post
The Ferret Tamer 1
Got 52 of the little buggers here including pure EU poleys and Mink hybrids (khonoriks) and none of them bite. As has been said correct diet and handling works wonders. FT Quote Link to post
Quixote 9
I go along with everything that's been said I've got eight, myself. They all get handled daily, & none of them are biters. The misconception that ferts are nasty wee buggers who love nothing better than to take a chunk out of you is exactly that! Quote Link to post

jusar whippets 10
My grandad was a ferreting demon, he always used to spit on the back of his hand and let the stinkers lick it off, he never had one that bit as they saw the hand as a place to have a nice lick. I must say with mine, 2 hobs and two jill, i've done the same and i have never had a proper nip. Mine love bog rolls, and it's so funny watching my polecat jill walking around inside a bog roll tube, looks like a boob tube for stinkers!! Quote Link to post
