Kay 3,709
it should be be self evident , in the poo corner basically , i have never had a ferret with worms so have never wormed one Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
cheers ellir cant wait DM  To be honest mate dont mend it if its not broken, theres lots of American sites who say you have to give them wormers , furball paste etc but i really dont think its needed unless theres an obvious problem same as anything , just act accordingly Quote Link to post
tullfan 0
have kept ferrets for more than thirty years and never known them to have them (maybe ive been lucky) an old style vet once told me most mustelids have such an acidic gut if they ingest worms they will be digested with everything else Quote Link to post
The one 8,503
Why do you want to worm them mate have you seen worms in there scats ?? Quote Link to post
Guest lavyheed
Chances are,if you haven't seen any, then your ferret won't have any. Am with Kay on this one, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Quote Link to post
The one 8,503
Aye it's like you taking antibiotics in case you get a cold etc then when you really need them they wont work Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
as the instestinal tract is so small on a ferret the worms dont get a chance to grow to a size where you can see them BUT this doesnt mean that the ferret wont have them in the gut lining ... i have kept ferrets for over 30 years and i always worm them once a year just before the season starts with panacure kitten wormer and adjust slightly to suite the ferrets weight ..... by doing this and giving a healthy diet i have never had any problem with squity shats or any other problem with their guts ... and nearly all of my ferrets have lived over the 9 years of age mark and they are worked hard 3 to 4 times a week through the winter ..........
