sandymere 8,263
Don't work it with another dog, keep on retreive training making it as much fun as possible, patience and a little luck.
Simoman 110
Take the retreive training back to basics, use a dummy in the garden and make sessions fun and short................
bud9 79
take her out herself that might help and if she still stops about 15ft away start walking away from her that might help good luck
Catcher 1 639
Take the retreive training back to basics, use a dummy in the garden and make sessions fun and short................ Agree with the above.when the dog gets a rabbit.Give it the recall then turn your back and walk away slowly. If your dog is trained to come to heal.It should fall in behind you.Give the command sit.turn round and try taking the rabbit from it.If it drops it fair play you have just gained 15 yards. You just take it from there.atb. old real tree 92
i take her out a few times a day and when in the field her recall is fine, she walks close when on pathways, think i may have to go back to basics with her, throw the ball in a field and call her back.... other than this she is spot on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Simoman 110
Take the retrieve work right back, dont do it in a field, do short distances, very short in the garden and increase the distance slowly................

Guest chook
she probably dosent fully trust you yet, you've only had her about a week - so its still early days. You could hook her up to a verry long line, washing line type thing will do, use a rabbit skin dummy and do retrives with that, make sure you dont throw it to far, so she has plenty of line, otherwise she could hurt her neck if she hits the end, but the line is there to help you, if she stops a distance away from you, you can walk up and take it from her or reel her in, soon enough she will learn that even though you take it away from her, she will get it back or she will get a reward either in treat form or fuss.
