tdesnos 6
Ok, i got rid of my S400 this weekend, since i haven't yet got permission and figured now's the time to treat myself. I was at my local gun smith's this weekend (PJ Draper's) and was playing the Daystate Air Wolf which was impressive, but it's a tad on the pricey side and i'm concerned id look like an 'all the gear, no idea' kinda guy. I know i have no idea, but i don't think there's a need to advertise it BUT, that said the rifle still impressed me. Then there's the classic Rapid 7, my boy hood dream rifle, John Darling used to use it, and i still like the look of it, and i'm told shoots beautifully - but, if i get that i'm left thinking 'is the HW100 better?' or the R10 - Zini i have read loves this. OR, are they equally matched and just personal preference. Advice please guys and gals! Cheers Tris Quote Link to post

Really, is it above the others? Or is just an emotional preference? Yep! As Davy says, its a very good hunting rifle, I tried quite a few of my mates guns before I settled for the HW100T, and I have to say it just blew me away, I had £1100 on me when I went to buy my gun, so money was'nt the problem, but this gun just fit me like a glove, and the pellet apon pellet shooting impressed me no end, I dont know anyone who has one thats not impressed by the gun, I've had mine nearly two years now, and I'm still not bored watching the pellets slap down bunnies, try one and see what you think Quote Link to post

The huntsman still utilizes the archaic concept of a 'manual' trigger unit (don't you know! ) am i right? Is the electronic trigger the thing you didn't like about the Air Wolf? As i found the lack of movement in the rifle when firing staggering. But, i think i would a bit of a cock poncing around with one of these - that and the price are the only reservation i have about this rifle. The Rapid 7 is close to my heart, but it's old now. I don't like the new variations. Just the good old mk1 in .22 thank you very much But, it's old enough now that i'm just double-checking (being as i've been out of touch with air rifles for a few years) that it's not old hat. I have heard the HW100 is a tad, but, that doesn't really bother me. As Boris The Bulletdodger says in his Russian accent: "heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it doesn't work you can always hit them with it" Quote Link to post

Whether this is true on air rifles i'm not sure, and if so, whether it is practical on an everyday in the field sporting rifle that is going to get knocked around, i guess, is another debate Quote Link to post
