my cousin has had three lurchers off hancock over the years two off them were the beardie type very able and i could not fault them, now then the other bitch who is now sadly dead of old age not bad for a dog that broke its leg when it was three yrs old(had it fixed by the waterloo cup vet very expensive) she was collie greyhound and made 23" was one of the best dogs i have seen in the last twenty five yrs working mainly bunnies night and day.however i must add that the amount of time he put in with these dogs was unbelievable so as said by others if you are willing to put a lot into a dog who knows what rewards you will get back good luck with your new hunting partner.

Exceptional dogs in the right hands. You only get out of them what you put into them.If you put the time into them you will be rewarded.

The Beardie/Borders have exceptional attributes, feet second to none, good bone, stamina, thick skin etc etc. They are put together to withstand the worst elements that nature can throw at them. All you have to do is bond with them and show them plenty of game. It's all down to you.

never met hancock nor have i seen any of his dogs in the flesh. but why is he still going strong if his kennels are in such shitty shape? and why is he still able to sale pups if they are shite? answer.... probably because his kennels arent in bad shape, if they were then the council or rspca would have done something about it. i never had them at my door but i hear that when they arrive they arent happy unless they see the fecking dog eating his grub off the dining table with a silver tea set :) ... im sure he gets reported to the rspca often enough by the antis and perhaps jealous folk.... if his dogs are shite then news would travel fast and the sales would stop! no need to go haywire folks,, its just my observation on yet another plummer slash hancock thread :11:

HANCOCK, PLUMMER, MINSHAW, ALL TYPES OF DOGS THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE DEBATES ON WHAT DOGS ARE THE BEST, I THINK ITS WHAT YOU TRAINING AND CARE YOU PUT INTO YOUR DOGS IN THE EARLY YEARS THAT MAKE A GOOD DOG FROM A BAD ONE, WE OWN A HANCOCK BITCH (3/4 GREYHOUND X 1/4 BEARDIE) AND I WONT SAY IT WAS THE EASIEST DOG TO TRAIN BE WE GOT THERE IN THE END, BUT I AGREE HANCOCK BREEDS FAR TOO MANY DOGS FOR HIM TO SPEND THEM EARLY WEEKS WITH WHAT A PUPPY NEEDS, THEY ARE TOOK FROM HIS PLACE AND PUT IN A HOME WITH TV AND WASHING MACHINES AND KIDS RUNNING ABOUT NO WONDER A LOT OF PUPS YOU GET SIT SHAKING, I KNOW OURS WOULDNT COME TO US FOR A FEW DAYS, I THINK IF PEOPLE WANT A NICE STEADY PUP ITS BEST TO GET ONE FROM SOMEONE PRIVATE AND NOT A PUPPY DEALER, HERES MY HANCOCK BITCH. jeff

Im not saying Hancocks dogs are shite, i dont agree with peddling and Hancock is a prime example, with of course some are bound to turn out ok with the volume he breeds i suppose you cant blame him if theres a

queue of punters at the door with a wallet full of dosh i wouldnt personally out of principle just my opinon. FU*K ive just thought car insurance and tax is due soon better knock a litter out of my bitch

“I agree with Locke that the state of Handcocks kennels are shocking and that the bloke is a puppy peddler.............BUT, i am reading this lads post as its his 1st dog/or hes a tyro and didnt want to disallusion him.

By saying something as simple as They are crap ect ect, if the dog isnt a world beater in 5 minutes, the chances are that a tyro lucher owner may blame the dog, instead of looking at his own methods.

Hey presto, another victim for the dogs home!

Think about it!

JOEB,

I’ve read posts from a lot of forums and this post tops the list as one of the better ones.

Having been involved with a handful of breeds and breed associations over the years, it became evident early on that every one of them has its “mass producers†and “canine midwives†(my term for the producers, not breeders). Having dealt with rescues for as many years, my last four hunting dogs coming out of rescue, my focus is drawn to the individual dog and its new owner. In other words, what do I need to do or say to make this relationship a successful one? And, for the time being, the hell with the person that produced the pup. I don’t know Hancock, I don’t own a lurcher..I do know that the kid was asking for some sound advice for the dog he presently owns.

Stopping here.

JOEB, great post and thanks for bringing the focus back to where it needed to be.

Best,

Gregg

PS; IF..........., A Story of what may happen...........
