Marksman 934
Myself and Festa decided to head up the coast to a permission we'd never done for ages. Small area of nothing but sand dunes and Marran grass.....oh and of course..bunnies! First set was a small 3 hole set and was quickly netted, collar on the ferret and down she went. She was down quite a while so on went our newly purchased Mk3 finder, she was located within 2-3 mins and was only 15ft down and wasnt moving!....... Could this be a bad sign we thought..... Obviously not as about 20 seconds later she started moving again then all of a sudden....BANG!!... The first rabbit was in the net quickly followed by the ferret. She was quickly re-entered and again she was down a while so once located (this time only 2ft) we started the dig. The finder was worth it's weight in gold then, took us straight to within 1ft of the ferret and she had one held up in a stopend....No 2 in the bag and that was all for that one. Second and third sets saw 2 rabbits have a lucky escape as we missed a couple of bolt holes due to the horrendous overgrown Marran grass, but revenge was soon to be ours..... After having a scout about we found a warren of about 12-14 holes out in the open on flat ground...we were excited about this one as we'd already seen 2 bolt into it as we made our way over, so it was soon netted up, checked and double checked this time for hidden holes. This time 2 ferrets were entered at each end of the warren, within literally seconds we had our first bolter, straight into a well placed net covering what only could have been described as a mousehole looking at it, net quickly replaced we had another in the net....I knew we had a good feeling about this one!! Then all went quiet for what seemed like ages..... all of a sudden...WHOOOOOSH!!....one in the net, followed by another out the same hole..... so..that was one missed Me and Festa 3 rabbits 1 Then it did go quiet for 5 mins.... so back out with the finder, both ferrets were located in the same place 18 inches from the surface so I started the dig again..... I cant emphasize how accurate the Mk3 is....it took us right on top of both ferrets and yet another rabbit held up in a stopend and we still hadnt finished yet.... the ferrets were reentered and that led to another 2 in the bag.... 6 from one warren...why cant it always be like that!! Another few sets done and the total was 16 for the day..... as the title says.... AREN'T SUNDAYS GREAT!! a couple of pics from the day..... Festa looking pretty damn chuffed!!! and Me posing to....why the hell not!! Thanks for reading Darryl Quote Link to post

Marksman 934
decent day there lads does it not worry you working those sand sett's especially getting marks of 15ft on the box Not at all mate...It might sound daft but mine are sort of trained to the shed keys.....as soon as they hear the keys they drop what theyre doing and come running... If you're on about collapses, then tbh mate if you are worried about it then dont put your ferret down the hole...it could happen anywhere not just on sand, it's the chance we all take I suppose Darryl Quote Link to post
