Simoman 110
Personally I wouldnt entertain running a pup of that age on the lamp, but thats just my opinion, there your dogs.............. Quote Link to post

blackpack 70
my view is you shouldnt let them see any game to run they are far too young their bones muscle haven't even developed but they are your dogs at the end of the day. But you shouldnt let them see any fur its a good way of ruining a dog. Quote Link to post
dog fox 16
so what would be tthe right age for the lad to start working her to the lamp ,how many runs a night and how old before he starts giving the dog some good hard nights , and roughly what age before he turns it from a few easy nights to some serious nights and at what age should he start thinking about entering it on other qaurry. i think he would benafit from knowing as he is a younster himself . If this is a serious post as im leaning towards it being a piss take myself looking at the pics of these pups but i tend to chuck a specific age out the window when it comes to bedding a sappling into work and chasing game...rather than age i tend to watch how a young lurcher is coming on,meaning...maturing physically and mentally where i think its not going to put itself under too much pressure and feel its ready to come to terms with its quarry without scarring it too much thus souring it or creating a yapper aswell as the physical damage that can be done for its futre working life. Although lurchers tend to mature at different rates and accidents can sometimes happen with a unplanned chase before you would like it i tend to lean closer towards 12 months to start my dogs although i have them with me consantly until then taking in the sights and scents of the countryside and watching the older dogs hopefully picking up some good traits along the way, then when it time comes you should have a settled young lurcher that should have a decent level of recall and retrieving aswell as 100% stockbrocken that is savvy enough mentally and sound enough physically to start it working life that with luck should serve you for many years to come. Each to their own but imo theres more to be lost with dogs than gained when starting them too young...let them be puppies,as thats what they are afterall Quote Link to post
Sorley x 32
Personally think you are winding us up, those pups don't lok six months and certainly too young for ANYTHING. But for now they are your dogs and it is your choice. I think running them now is about as silly as it gets but what the feck do I know, I'm stupid enough to let em finish growing before I let em do much. I guess someone will be picking them dogs up in a year as 100% lampers. Quote Link to post

jjbel 0
IMHO, I personally dont think those puppies would kill rabbits yet. (Unless they were mixie rabbits) Quote Link to post
