Hi all

My names chris and ive just joined the group. i have a 14month old saluki whippet greyhound, and hes just started being a rate pain.....he takes no notice of me at all, but used to. when he picks a rabbit up hell run round the field with it for an hour rather than retrieve...and the last couple of days he dissapears for an hour at a time when i slip him..........any ideas.....chris

good advice [bANNED TEXT] ^^. just like he said get a rabbit skin or even anything the dog will pick up and just throw it about for a little bit and every time you throw it call him back and if he doesnt bring it dont reward him and if he does give him it. remember hes still young youve got plenty of time

well if i get slaghterd for this tuff but that can be saluki blood for you.

could be though , my saluki's are [bANNED TEXT] nutters when my saluki dog got his 3rd rabbit he was running around for 10mins palying silly bugger with it

the best days of its life for learning are gone ,you cant replace them .do your best .

Aye, recall & retrieving should have been done a long time ago.

 

You could try a bit of dummy retrieving on a flexi lead.

Can you blame him!!! Before that he'd never seen 3 rabbits!!!
