which camera

:haha: so you're gonna get the D300?!!!

I use a Canon 40D for most of my action shots.

Depends how much you want to get out of your photography really... Most DSLRs costing less than half the price of the D300 will do the job, but may not be quite so durable or sturdily built. Don't forget the cost of lenses too...

Think if I was considering a Nikon ( ) I'd be looking at a D700... my old man's got one, and even though I'm a Canon fan, I can't fault the bloody thing...

Get a Canon 1DS mk3, a 16-35L Lens, a 70-200 f2.8L is lens, & a 100-400L lens, then when you get fed up with photography I'll take the lot off your hands for £2000... sorted! :whistling:

But seriously, the D100 is old technology, and a bit on the slow side. The D200 isn't a bad camera if you trip over a S/H one at a reasonable price. The D90 is ok too. Lenses - I'd stick with Nikon if you can afford it, and look at some in the 70-300 range. VR isn't totally necessary if all you want to do is action shots because you'll be using a fast speed anyway, but it's handy in other situations. You'll also need a wider lens maybe the 18-70 or similar if you want to shoot the odd landscape.
