skycat 6,174
sorry to see that, but if the dog was in condition it would of jumped it easy It doesn't matter if the dog is in A1 condition: if it slips on take off, or fails to see a single rusty strand atop a wall (brown wire against green vegetation is hard for a dog to see) then it will spike itself. Accidents can and do happen despite everything we can do to stop them: though I agree that a fit dog will be able to jump better than an unfit one: you just can't stop freak accidents. 1986HUNTER 0
Hello i went for shine thursday night i had walked a half dozen fields when i was climbing over a fence and heard the dog yelp.I jumped down knocked the lamp on to find the dogs leg tangled in barbed wire. After abit of untangling got him home. Then to the vets god knows how many stitchs and 65quid lighter. thats him out for a couple of weeks. good thing to do is when you get to a fence with barb wire is take your jumper or jacket off and put over the barb wire then get the dog over ,doesnt matter if dog can normally clear it its better to be safe then sorry. furdy 0
I'm not sure that most would agree...... Have you never come across a loose strand of wire laying in the grass with an end standing up just enough to wrap a dog. Loose bottom strands that again become disguised by vegetation. Barbed is the worst thing to encounter just because of it difficult nature. Next time you catch your nuts on the way over a loose fence perhaps you should have done a few more push ups before you went out...!!!! Quote Link to post
