maybe ,just maybe ,the reason i post more than you could have something to do with me being more knowledgeable ,because of the amount i have done with working lurchers ,who knows ;)

unfit is the name you run your dogs on anything well mate , my freinds course hard i used to every week daylite weekends, during the week etc, and lamping larger qaurry and lots of it , ive run my dogs any were to at one time but learned through expierence , but only had afew dogs were you could run any were as they changed gears to suit the land, wise dogs who were clever but only had afew like that , some you were better leaving in kennel as no piont of wrists getting swollen toes getting sore i use d to and still do when weather suits flush large qauntities of game but i dont FECH my dogs up for a chase as i hunt six months rougly on game rest awee bit vermin , when the grounds shity and the stubble is hard the winter wheat solid why fech a good dog ,alrite if your on spongy grass but we dont run much on thta type of land all arable when i see my old farmer mate breaking pionts of his plough i say well dogs nails can go the same way , dont see te piont of running dogs to hard when the grounds shitty especaily ayoung dog

well you want to get a dog from elsewhere ,because it seems you wont get one to suit from of this site .most of the owners are to frightend to run them unless they are guaranteed all conditions are perfect . :yes:

well you want to get a dog from elsewhere ,because it seems you wont get one to suit from of this site .most of the owners are to frightend to run them unless they are guaranteed all conditions are perfect . :yes:

 

no its called having common sense and respect for your dog, if you run the bollocks of them on rock hard ground they aint going to last the season.

tell me unfit what type of land do you run and were, as ive hunted alll over and with guys who have won good comps and just honest lurcher lads what type of dog do you breed to run any were ive got two at moment as there 4 and six ,but realy would you take the chance nightly on stony hard land for a beastie to flush of some other qaurry knowing fine there not going to run full out and at there best , up in the marsh and grass lands its not to bad but on the winter wheat its solid the plough worse ,stubble runable but only just , i will runmines tomoz on the grass feilds for a bolter or two but not balsting over feilds at first lite for 1 or 2 minutes mate

thats strange ,in 30 odd years every one of mine has ,must say some thing for the type and breed of dog you must keep .

thats just it whin ,,all the dogs i have owned and worked from a very young age ,learn NOT TO RUN FLAT OUT ,it realy does make a big difference at the end of the night ,week, or season . .

ile ask again mate what type of dogs do you run and what type of qaurry and land do you hunt ,that determines a dogs ability to run shitty land hard stony land and how much graft to you give them
mainly lurcher x lurcher ,but no bull in the blood ,all sorts of ground ,and all sorts of quarry preban ,but mostly on the lamp . i probibly work them a lot more than most ,and i only keep one dog at a time . Edited by UNFIT

always does thats why itake mines out as pups with big dogs in a controle fashion got a twelve month old pup at moment been out as a4 month pup watching big dogs watching bolters, leashed up ,now he had the summer of and has been running for a month found 4 beasties several rabbs a few hares all flushed and he is steady, runs beside jeep once i flicker lamp hees alert , but he has been brought up with clever dogs and is out all the time but will not flush hares until land softens a wee bit as there enough shorter runs at nite, to good a dog for me to waste on a daylite flush on big ears , i stil will not run the ploughlocaly far to hard abn no piont , i no how to enter a dog when young cause i no there breeding ,but it can come unstuck with inexpierenced guys who havent had the expierence with knowledgble guys

one dog aint no god localy or 50 mile raduis alot of qaurry and a lot of running if you no were to go mate , and how to work it at nite etc and good to rest them a nite and take another jukel , and then if you want a days rabbiting or flushing game you can rest one uo 2 or three is perfect localy or 50 mile raduis one would be good but if he gets a bad tumble well he can be off same if they hit a woood and get bruised up making contact no dogs indestructible mate even the best if you are out alot

of course they are not indestructible ,but i manage to get by ,and with only one dog at a time

just got back from ole george drake the greyhound vet and told him about this debate on running dogs on hard ground he just smile theres dog men and theres men with dogs a good 2/3 weeks of rain then run em as hard as like and thats a man who knows ;)
:no: hes a grey hound vet not a lamper or lurcher owner ,a big difference .

wrong he deals with some of the top fen dogs running and if he was on fen running a dog i no were my money be :clapper:
