dirtwinger 235
I am having a few bad days about 3 weeks worth so far with my old dog. My bitch cut her hock badly so is out for at least another week so it is just my old dog left to graft right now and he is struggling. He is approaching ten which has a lot to do with it, he knows he cant catch a jackrabbit on his own anymore. I work him with my falcon and he is jacking on the hares too, the problem is that the falcon and the dog are both veteran hare killers which should be an advantage but isnt. The falcon wont chase a hare hard unless the dog is running hard and the dog wont chase a hare hard if the bird wont. They are both waiting for the other to commit before they put in 100%. They are both chasing rabbits hard but they are down holes before they can get them most of the time, I even had a hare go down a hole on them the other day just when I thought they were going to get it. Once they take one they will trust each others conviction and we will start catching, in the meantime it is very annoying. here is a pic of another bunny gone down the hole. I will try an get out with one of my mates young dogs next week and see if I can fire them up a little, it's tough relying on a old dog so much my pups wont be ready till next year and I have had enough bad days already. all the best Terence Quote Link to post
