JoeD 24
Any meat or bones I need I just swap rabbits for them with the butchers. If not then I think he said bones are 10-30p depending on size and scraps that he wont use 50p a bag (you get quite a lot in the bag) All the best. JoeD
MR POACH 2
paying for bones , thats a bit hardcore lol , if a butcher hasnt got loads of bones to give away, then he isnt slaughtering much cattle , wich means he isnt selling much meat , so next time he tries to rob you , by charging for scraps simply point this out to him and try and shame him into giving them away for free , there are 2 local butchers near me and they cant give enough away, especially when im buying other stuff from there as well as picking up bones ,

justin 2
i get em for free...best to go there at end of day, i also get fish scraps from local fishmonger, he charges 20p a bag but these scraps are not just heads, their lovelly cuts (ive been tempted to boil some up for myself) the racks of ribs etc go down a treat but the dogs seem to like the fish cut into small pieces mixed with their meat and veg so a bag full lasts ages...well worth 20p... Tis TM 8
Try finding your local wholesale butcher/ meat factory... They have to pay to get rid of the bones so will welcome a regular collection, thought they might want you to take in bulk and freeze... Peeing about with the odd bones here and there wouldn't appeal. Just typed both into the search for my local area (and my nearest city) and couldn't find anything Only thing that came up was a meat wholesaler??? not sure exactly what that is (before anyone gets smart i realise they sell meat wholesale ) but do they prepare meats........would they have offcuts to get rid of? yes... Meat Wholesalers are going to be butchers on a large scale, that supply bulk to hotels - pubs - schools etc etc. They will have bones coming out thier ear 'ole's lol Soon you should be getting into the turkey gib's too Dogs love 'em. mooshka 22
I started raw feeding a few months back and i asked my local butcher if he had any scraps of meat i could take for the dog His reply NO, but you can buy bones for 90p each I was gobsmacked, surely there is stuff he throws away......................but he is such a tight git he won't let my little Lurcher benifit from it. What are your butchers like, are they as tight as mine I'm not sure if there are laws regarding this and some stick to it Do you use the butcher regular.. weekely meat ect.. that always helps. I popped into one yesterday and he started going on about V.A.T.. !!! I have to BUY chicken carcasses by the box @ £6.. and he put a few extra bits in. Keep at it Hollie... you'll find a more helpful one, even if you have to drive to your next town...

fishy 1
hollie,if you have a local smokery/smokehouse try them. as they buy in raw chickens, fish, deer, pigs etc..then they carve them up for smoking, throwing away the 'rubbish,'which they have to pay for. fazerthou 2
Here's my tuppence worth. All waste bones, scraps skin, etc etc the butcher has to pay for it to be removed and disposed of. Its collected usually by a individual company, who will then sell it on to another company etc etc. till it ends up as fertiliser or whatever. In Sheffield most of the raw stuff you want you can get for free, but offer them something for it, 50p or a £1 and they will look after you. Tell them its for your dogs, ferrets, whatever let them know what you want, and they, (well ours do) cut them up for you. That's the proper Butchers not the Morrisons, Tesco, lot, most of them never have bones etc as it comes prepacked or all ready prepared. The only Bones i have come across where they do want paying for a large marrow bones, (COW LEGS) and these are a waste of time anyway as they are far too large until you cut them right down with a saw. To sum it all up, as per usual, you only get out what you put in! Just keep looking and asking, and hopefully you will find a good supplier of free or nearly free raw food.
