sh 08 17
i would take the pup for walks in the day if i was you. That way its learning from a young age about livestock, fences gates and commands as it will follow what the other dogs do.. like was said before it will just follow you [bANNED TEXT] its tired Good luck
Sorley x 32
Try putting the pup in the kennel on its own and giving it a treat.Close the door and stand the otherside give it another treat. If there is no noise let the pup out and praise it. Repeat but start increasing the gap between closing door and giving treat. You ned to get treat/praise in BEFORE it yaps. The idea is to gradually increase the amount of time and then start walking out of site and returning instantly to the pup. then increase the gap. The pup needs to learn taht you ARE coming back and it isn't being abandoned. Try also leaving one of the other dogs there with the pup, if it is calm quiet and relaxed whilst you are away then the pup will learn the same. I'm sorry but you will need to put in time and effort and have some patience. Good luck Edited to say: FFS leave the bark collar well alone. at 12 weeks old it is nothing short of cruelty - regardless of what the sales orientated manufacturers would have you believe. bradaz2009 9
as for taking the pup with you you aint solving the problem you need to get it used to going by your rules and i normally take them out first then take it back home give it a good feed when i take the other dogs out and its alright just sayinig f**k the neighbours you the kind of people what give us lurcher lads a bad name well let us know when you sorted it and let us know how
J Darcy 5,871
its ok saying take it with me but its too young to take lamping or walking for miles. i take it out either before or after on its own.and the bark collar states can be used from any age! The pup is far far too young for an anti bark collar mate. Jesus, the poor mite wont even understand whats going on. Personally i would give it a good walk with the lurchers and.....now this is the genius thing....only take one of your adult lurchers out. Leave one behind to keep your pup company. You only need to run one lurcher at a time anyway surely.... Good luck with the little 'un....JD
Simoman 110
Don't use an anti bark collar, its not appropriate with a young pup.......

inan 841
f**k the neighbours mate and the collar get the pup a big roast bone to chew on when you go out start off with going away for 5 mins then 10 ect.. as the lads have said about the collar its not good at that age :realmad: all the pup will associate with you leaving it is pain... leave 1 dog at home for a week or two let her/him settle in and go from there... atb That's a good way ,leaving it for a short time ,and gradually building up the length of absence.Radio 2 sometimes helps too.And ,if the music bothers your neighbours ,get the pup some head phones. Cold Ethyl 63
Can beat the kongs imo my male used to a whingin big beggar but he will happily sit and chew his kong no problems and if he/she has your smelly jumper it should be happy

If you'd read the man's posts you'd see that he has already tried giving the pup a bone, so your advice is worth nothing. I have advice available from a behaviourist employed by one of the country's largest dog charities (which I work for), but unfortunately he is away on holiday just now, and anyway if the advice isn't wanted or needed then there's no point wasting his time. Personally I don't rate Caesar Millan. Edited October 7, 2009 by Annmarie09
Cold Ethyl 63
I tried bones and chews etc for mine and he wasnt arsed but the kong i used to soak some dog meal and mix sardines or chicken or beef meat paste and crab sandwhich spreads in and stuff the kong with that far tastier and he was more keen on it then. Also make sure he gets a decent run about somewhere before you leave him dont talk to him when you leave or when you come to start with greet him last and after a wee while this should work used this method with a few whiners in the past one being a whippet who would howl all night to begin with
awen 29
if its got energy to cry id give it a longer walk to wear it out then give it a good feed it should sleep a good few hours thatll give you enough time to take the others out. the older it gets it should settle down aslong as your not running to it everytime it squeeks. good luck pal hope it comes right
