And yes, that is a Greater Spotted Woodpecker, a frequent visitor to our peanuts.

So thats 2 woodpeckers to look out for again & hope to get a good pic of both

Thank you , i love it here i am seeing new things every day that i didnt know existed , i have been having a go at the gulls again today on sports setting , a few came out better than i expected :thumbs:

Gulls are quite good to practice on for flying shots, especially if they are flying against the wind..It also gets you used to taking pictures of white birds against darker backgrounds, to test light settings etc..White is so easy to blow out so you are left with no detail..but, practice makes perfect, and you are certainly practicing...

Today i tried to get them in focus in front of the trees rather than the sky which was very grey & dull, some arnt to bad but its at least given me a bit of practice keeping the subject in the viewfinder & in focus as best as i could , even though it was cold & quite windy today there were plenty of birds about

 

They sat on the water with there feathers all fluffed up they looked frozen :laugh:
