pencoed hunter 7
I'm using old jumpers and shirts for the bottom of the bed then shredded paper piled all the way to the top of the bed and then using news paper for the floor with wood shavings on top. What do other people use or what would be the best. I am getting quite allot of ticks using this so just wondering if hay is better or whatever. I clean them out daily and cages are disinfected down then jet washed ones a month. Could just be that I live right next to the woods and there is allot of farm cats around here to. rosspti 2
Be VERY careful with sheep dip there fellas! Old fashioned sheep dips contan VERY dangeous chemicals called Organophosphates. They can give you the shakes like Parkinson's disease, depression, mental illnesses, premature death and all sorts. There's no need to panic as it only affects the unlucky ones, and then only after prolonged and repeated exposure - but I would advise against using OP dips. Check with a vet and read the label!!! Don't forget that these chemicals are designed to be absorbed into your skin! Quote Link to post

pencoed hunter 7
Never thought of the lip on the mesh awesome idea ill do that tomorrow when I finish the varnishing. I think ill keep the shredded paper as its free and keep the wood shavings because its so cheap £7.00 for a massive bale of it lasts months with 4 ferrets my cuzn uses liquid paraffin on his ferret to keep the ticks off he just gets a rag sacks it with liquid paraffin then rubs the ferrets coat down with it and hasn't had a tick in ages. He sais when he did have them he put it on and they just dropped straight off. Quote Link to post
carl sarg 3
I use hay , and when i shoot a pigeon they eat it and then drag the feathers in to the bed and use it for bedding, never had any problems Quote Link to post
Guest lavyheed
I use old fleece for bedding and megazorb for the toilet area. Round my way the megazorb is cheaper than the wood shavings . Quote Link to post
