badger 91
Dan, what a dandy dog! Beautiful AND deadly, I am pleased for you. Looks strong and built for early speed, but wait! I don't see any bull influence, what's up with that lol (and this coming from me, a guy who LIKES a bit of bull). I guess you can say none added, none needed;) Thanks for the pics,....bob Quote Link to post

Dan Edwards 1,134
Fine animal Dan Would you not shave him down or strip him out in the summer to combat the heat? Bosun, maybe a guy oughta do that. I dont really think about that stuff to tell ya the truth. I just road them alot and keep them in pretty good shape and it seems they dont really get that awful hot. I got water all over the place too so maybe thats why I am OK. Maybe I oughta try it though. I just truely never thought that it bothered him that awful much. He is still recovering from a real bad wreck that would have killed a lesser dog in my opinion but he made it through with my wife babying his ass for a few weeks. He is lucky he has her or he might not be here right now. Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
That second one there was the first out of two that he did back to back single handed within about 5 minutes of each other. I about screwed up though and got him whipped off the second one cause he was too hot.The first day we tried him when I bought him, he did two back to back single handed about 10 minutes apart but it was alot cooler out and it wasnt too awful tough for him at all. Was just a thought Dan from this post. Really dunno what you would class as hot but i'll bet it'll be a damn sight hotter for running dogs than over this side! You sound like you got it covered though Dan and know your animals well enough. Though if 10 mins with a clipper would have it done, then it may be well worth it, getting him smashed up is one thing, you can usually see and treat it but him going over with heat stroke, especially when his bloods up and reading some critter its last rights, is something that can be seriousley difficult to spot till its too late. Hope the rest of the healing goes well for your boy, best of luck Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
Ya, that day it would have cooked any dog damn near no matter what the hair length was. That was just stupid on my part to let him at it. It was too close to the other run. Not tryin to double talk here at all. It was my fault he got hot that day and it would have cooked a slick coated dog too. Too warm and too back to back on a yote anyhow. Quote Link to post
whin 463
saw the chase on coyotes with ole beechnut and his brothers on the desert laying it down to a big male yote and me in broad scottish trying to hit it with stick and fencing tool ,had one on a cactus bush and on cat claw as the dogs tried to get him i jumped on the cactus bush and he leapt of then the dogs gave him the finish good sport Quote Link to post
