shepp 2,285
If the poodle is a working dog then I see no problem with the cross. Poodles are probably the fastest and most agile of the retreiving breeds. Quote Link to post

cúagusgiorraí 57
If you are going to experiment then, instead of Poodle, I think the lad should have tried other similar European "poodle-like" working breeds, for example the curly retriever Irish water Spaniel Pudelpointer Barbet Pont-Audemer Wetterhoun Perhaps there would be more hunting instinct and prey-drive... mackay 3,328
Perhaps so mate, but then you might stop to ask yourself why none of the above are as common or as popular as the standard poodle. Quote Link to post

andyrose 8
good news guys, i bought one last week! and a fine pup he is. already got him sitting to hand signals and he's only 9 weeks, which is something some lurchers never learn in a life time. what i'm after is a good allround and especially one that can retrieve from water. as for hunting instinct its still in modern poodles. whin 463
its in working collies to and if i wanted a coat on a dog i would have an old working beardie tell me how soft mouthed poodles are saw on poodle that could rock if giving the chance but saw a few all pets that were never tried it would take me 3 years to test agood poodle , and well if it never came up to the standard of the lurchers i have well good nite , i think you could get a good home for them i would have sold only maybe half the liter and gave the rest to expierened men to test then you can get the real write up about them ,then further the breeding Quote Link to post

SORRY MATE THATS NOT TRUE YOU CAN TRAIN MOST TYPES OF LURCHER PUP TO DO THAT EASY AND WHAT DOES SITTING TO HAND SIGNAL HELP A DOG WHEN IT COMES TO KILLING GAME? THEY DONT SIT DOWN TO DO THAT MATE SO COME BACK AND TELL US HOW GOOD YOUR POODLE X IS WHEN ITS AN ADULT AND KNOCKING STUFF OVER Quote Link to post
