droid 11
The Sun always was a right wing rag. The term 'Sun-reader Tory' was always a term of abuse.....
Halfinch 51
I seem to remember the sun being a Tory paper right up until it looked like they were going to get hammered in the polls 12yrs ago. Funny that it has been a labour paper since then, in fact, right up until it looks like they are going to get hammered in the polls Very fickle publication. To coin a hunting phrase They seem to run with the fox and hunt with the hounds.

It wwas a free vote that got it banned in the 1st place!!! Dont hold your breath thats it think negative, the politics of repealing the hunting act will be tricky. It would look a bit odd if the Tories were to immediately devote substantial parliamentary time to it given all the other problems the country is facing. However, there is an idea doing the rounds in Conservative circles as to how the party could get around this problem. Rather than a bill devoted exclusively to repealing the hunting ban, there would be one that would concentrate on a whole host of civil liberties issues including ID cards. Hunting would merely be a section of it, with a free vote on the issue. This way the party would avoid the appearance of spending a considerable amount of time on the relatively fringe issue of hunting and would get to frame repeal of the ban as a civil liberties issue so cmon lets think positive theres ways around the problem and the tories will find it and we should let the tories know how every single one of us feels about this issue Edited September 30, 2009 by craigyboy
shepp 2,285
I think the Conservatives will need a very big majority to be able to push anything through parliament. This will be very difficult due to the voter base Labour have created with legions of public sector bureucrats many with non-jobs that will be weeded out by a Conservative government. The other created voter base is the immigrant vote which will vote Labour because it likes the so called positive descrimination which benefits it and the ease to which other family members can be brought into the country. Did you see the African girl who was working for Tescos with no visa for the last 8 years, she came here with her student visa with which she was able to bring her mother and child here off the back of it. Labour have bankrupted this country just with the view of staying in power, thankfully the British public are not quite as stupid as they think we are !

artic 595
I haver always voted conservative and always will. Its needed more than ever now, more stricter laws are needed, more punishment jail sentencing etc.... Britain needs a cure big time! As for labour, well what have they done to this country.......... The ban will not be lifted if at all for at least another 2/3 years. Yes it shows it cannot be policed big time, we just need to convert a few more people and educate them. I remember the miners strikes, the total devastation to the communities of South Wales & parts of England when they closed the mines as payback, the pictures on the news of fishermen's boats being burned in protest when the Tories gave away the fishing grounds to the rest of Europe and the means or earning a living with it, the old people freezing to death in their homes in winter because they couldn't afford to heat their homes, the rich getting richer while the poor stayed in poverty, boom & bust, etc. It's a sign of how bad things have got under the current shower, that people want these arseholes back in power. SportingShooter 0
All i'll say is we'll see what happens. I've always voted for the Tories as actually being tougher on Crime and immigration is what i'd like to see. I also don't see how you can hold a new government accountable to actions over 20 years ago. It will have to be a case of wait and see.
